Thunder (Japanese: かみなり Lightning) is a damage-dealing Electric move introduced in Generation I.

It is:
* TM25 from Generation I to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, and in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
* TM38 in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!.
* TR09 in Sword and Shield.
* TM166 in Generation IX.

Generation I
Generation I
Thunder deals damage and has a 10% chance of Paralysis the target.
Thunder deals damage and has a 10% chance of Paralysis the target. Thunder cannot paralyze Electric Pokémon.

Generation II to V
Thunder now has a 30% chance to paralyze the target. Thunder can now paralyze Electric-type Pokémon.

When used during rain, Thunder bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the target is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Dive. When used during harsh sunlight, its accuracy is reduced to 50%.

Generation II
Thunder can hit Pokémon during the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly, Bounce, and Sky Drop.
Thunder has a 30% chance of paralyzing the target. It can hit a Pokémon during the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly or Bounce.

Generation III
Thunder can be used as the second move of a Pokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining 2 bonus appeal points if Charge, Lock-On, or Rain Dance was used in the previous turn.
Same as previous generations, but also deals double damage on a Pokémon using Bounce.

Generation IV
In Diamond and Pearl only, due to a glitch, when used in rain it has a 30% chance to hit a target that has used Protect or Detect.
Thunder will be 100% accurate under Rain Dance's effect. In Diamond and Pearl it has a 30% chance to penetrate through Protect or Detect when used in heavy rain, but not in Platinum onwards.

Generation V
Generation VI onwards
Thunder is guaranteed to hit the target in rain regardless of the target's evasion boosts.
Thunder's power was reduced from 120 to 110. It can no longer paralyze Electric Pokémon once again, due to them now being immune to paralysis.

Thunder can be used as part of a Contest Spectacular combination, with the user gaining an extra three appeal points if either Charge or Rain Dance was used in the prior turn.

Thunder inflicts damage and may leave the target Status condition (Mystery Dungeon). The move can hit a Pokémon in middle of Fly, Bounce or Sky Drop, and its accuracy is affected by weather. When used by a Gigantic Pokémon in Gates to Infinity, Thunder has a base PP of 20 and a base accuracy of 90%.

Super Smash Bros. series
Pikachu uses Thunder (Pokémon) as its down special move. It summons a thunderbolt from the sky to attack opponents on the ground. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U, Thunder now summons a cloud that fires the thunderbolt, making the attack's range shorter. Additionally, the thunderbolt now acts a Meteor Smash.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Pichu also uses Thunder as its down special move. It functions similarly to Pikachu's Thunder, although it strikes multiple times. If the thunderbolt hits Pichu, it will take damage.

Thunder (Japanese: かみなり Lightning) is a damage-dealing Electric-type move introduced in Generation I.

It is:

Effect

Generation I

Thunder deals damage and has a 10% chance of paralyzing the target. Thunder cannot paralyze Electric-type Pokémon.

Thunder can hit Pokémon during the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly, Bounce, and Sky Drop.

Thunder can be used as the second move of a Pokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining 2 bonus appeal points if Charge, Lock-On, or Rain Dance was used in the previous turn.

In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl only, due to a glitch, when used in rain it has a 30% chance to hit a target that has used Protect or Detect.

Generation VI onwards

Thunder's power was reduced from 120 to 110. It can no longer paralyze Electric-type Pokémon once again, due to them now being immune to paralysis.

Thunder can be used as part of a Contest Spectacular combination, with the user gaining an extra three appeal points if either Charge or Rain Dance was used in the prior turn.

Super Smash Bros. series

Pikachu uses Thunder as its down special move.
