Attract (Japanese: メロメロ Mad Love) is a non-damaging Normal-type move introduced in Generation II. It was TM45 from Generation II to Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon and in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and TM31 in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

Effect

This move effect may be in need of research.
Reason: If a Pokémon is infatuated when it is holding a Mental Herb or Eggant Berry while it is also under protection of Aroma Veil, will it still consume this item?
You can discuss this on the talk page.

The target becomes infatuated with the user if they have opposite genders. Attract works regardless of type immunity. Unlike most status moves, Attract is able to bypass a substitute.

Attract has no effect if the user and target have the same gender, or if either of them is a gender-unknown Pokémon (such as Magnemite). It also fails when used on a Pokémon that is already infatuated.

Pokémon with the Ability Oblivious or under the protection of Aroma Veil are immune to the effects of Attract. If a Pokémon is infatuated by Attract while holding a Mental Herb or an Eggant Berry, the item will be consumed and the infatuation will end. Even if the Pokémon has Oblivious, the item will still be consumed.

If the target Pokémon becomes infatuated while holding a Destiny Knot, the user will also become infatuated with the target.

If powered up by a Normalium Z into Z-Attract, all of the user's lowered stats are reset.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series

In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, Attract is a move with 10PP and 100% accuracy. The user targets enemy in front of it, cutting corners, inflicting Infatuated status condition, preventing Pokémon from performing actions for 5-6 turns. As genders are not a gameplay mechanic, the move works on all Pokémon. This move is affected by Taunt and Magic Coat.

In Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, the move's accuracy was decreased to 75%. Additionally, gender is now a gameplay mechanic, meaning the move can only affect Pokémon of the opposite gender.

The gender mechanic was removed in Gates to Infinity onwards, meaning the move works like it did in Red and Blue Rescue Team. Additionally, infatuation now only has a 50% chance of preventing attacks every turn, rather than being guaranteed, and no longer stops movement or item use.
