Bug Bite (Japanese: むしくい Bug Bite) is a damage-dealing Bug-type move introduced in Generation IV. It is TM182 in Generation IX.

Effect

This move effect may be in need of research.
Reason: This can hit non-adjacent opponents in triple battles? Jaboca Berry mechanics in Generation IV?
You can discuss this on the talk page.

Bug Bite inflicts damage. If the target is holding a Berry, the user will eat the Berry and gain its effect. Bug Bite will not eat the target's Berry if it hits its substitute. Bug Bite will not consume the Berry of a target that has the Ability Sticky Hold.

The effect of a Jaboca or Tanga Berry will activate before the Berry can be stolen. Berries like Liechi or Sitrus Berries will be eaten by the attacker, regardless of them meeting their consumption requirement upon taking damage from Bug Bite.

Generation IV

If the user has the Ability Klutz or is affected by Embargo, it will consume the target's held Berry without gaining its effect.

Generation V onwards

The user will now receive the effects of the target's held Berry even if it has the Ability Klutz or is affected by Embargo.

Bug Bite will fail when used in a Max Raid Battle.
