Prankster (Japanese: いたずらごころ Teasing Heart) is an Ability introduced in Generation V.

Effect

In battle

Generation V

Prankster increases the priority of status moves by one. A move having its priority increased by Prankster does not cause it to be blocked by Quick Guard.

Generation VI

Any status moves used by Pokémon with Prankster now can be blocked by Quick Guard.

Generation VII onward

Dark-type Pokémon are now immune to opposing Pokémon's moves that gain priority due to Prankster, including moves called by moves that call other moves (such as Assist and Nature Power) and excluding moves that are repeated as a result of Prankster-affected Instruct or moves that occur earlier than their usual order due to Prankster-affected After You. Ally Dark-type Pokémon are still affected by the user's status moves.

Dark-type Pokémon can still bounce moves back with Magic Bounce or Magic Coat; moves that have increased priority due to Prankster which are reflected by Magic Bounce or Magic Coat can affect Dark-type Pokémon, unless the Pokémon that bounced the move with Magic Coat also has Prankster. Moves that target all Pokémon (except Perish Song and Rototiller, which cannot affect Dark-type opponents if boosted by Prankster) and moves that set traps are successful regardless of the presence of Dark-type Pokémon.

Status Z-Moves (including Extreme Evoboost) have their priority increased.

Affected moves

The table below lists the moves affected by Prankster, as well as the Pokémon that can have Prankster and learn those moves.

Although the following moves are affected by the Ability, they currently cannot be learned by any Pokémon with Prankster. They may, however, be used after a Pokémon with Prankster learns the move via Mimic, or be used by a Pokémon that gained Prankster due to an Ability changing Ability or move.

Outside of battle

Prankster has no effect outside of battle.

When a status move is used by a Pokémon with Prankster, it will use the move twice in a row on a single turn. This will only consume 1 PP.

In Rescue Team DX, moves affected by Prankster have no effect on Dark-type Pokémon.
