The Master Dojo (Japanese: マスター道場 Master Dojo) is a battle facility on the Isle of Armor in the Galar region. It is owned and operated by Mustard and his wife Honey. The Master Dojo accepts a limited number of students who wish to grow stronger as Pokémon Trainers.

Trials

201
Spoiler warning: this article may contain major plot or ending details.
201

The Trainers who wish to receive the "secret armor" of the Master Dojo must pass Mustard's three trials.

The first trial requires the students to chase down and battle three Galarian Slowpoke at +6 Speed in the Soothing Wetlands due to the trio stealing Klara'sSw/Avery'sSh Dojo Uniform. Most of the students, including the player and their rival, succeed in the first trial.

The second trial requires students to find three clusters of Max Mushrooms, required to make Max Soup. Only the player, who finds the required amount of Max Mushrooms from Warm-Up Tunnel, and their rival are able to complete the trial.

In the third trial, students who cleared the second trial participate in Dynamax battles against each other. The winner is the one that successfully completes all the trials and is given the "secret armor" upon victory. The player passes the test after defeating their rival, despite the latter cheating.

Upon completing the trials, Mustard gives the player the "secret armor", a Kubfu, as their award.

201 Spoilers end here. 201

Amenities

Battle Court

The Battle Court (Japanese: バトルコート Battle Court) is a battle area located behind the Master Dojo. Located at a Power Spot, the Battle Court allows Trainers to Dynamax their Pokémon during battle.

Restricted Sparring

Main article: Restricted Sparring

Restricted Sparring is a form of battle challenge unlocked after defeating Mustard with his strongest team. In it, the player aims for streaks of five or more won battles using a team of Pokémon consisting of a single type.

Cram-o-matic

The Cram-o-matic
Main article: Cram-o-matic

The Cram-o-matic is one of Hyde's inventions. The player can insert four items into it and get a new one in exchange, following certain recipes. The player can use it at any time after giving Hyde 500 Watts.

Kitchen

Max Soup

A bowl of Max Soup

After the player has cleared Mustard's second trial, they can talk to a Master Dojo Student in the kitchen in order to have him make them Max Soup (Japanese: ダイスープ Dai Soup) in exchange for three clusters of Max Mushrooms per serving. The soup can be fed to any Pokémon that has a Gigantamax form (except Melmetal), which either adds or removes the Gigantamax Factor, depending on whether they already have it or not.

For Urshifu, one comb of Max Honey is required in addition to the Max Mushrooms in order to feed it Max Soup.

Refrigerator

After donating 100,000 Watts, the refrigerators in the kitchen will be stocked with curry ingredients, from which the player can obtain one daily. The ingredient choices are the Fruit Bunch, Moomoo Cheese, Large Leek, and Sausages.

Vending machines

Vending machines can be added to the Master Dojo after donating Watts.

Right vending machine

Another vending machine that sells vitamins can be installed in the Master Dojo after more Watts are donated.

  • After donating 200,000 W, the vending machine will only sell Protein and Iron.
  • After donating 300,000 W, the vending machine will also sell Calcium and Zinc.
  • After donating 400,000 W, the vending machine will also sell HP Up and Carbos.

The player can choose how many of one vitamin they want to purchase.

  • 1 vitamin for $10,000
  • 5 vitamins for $40,000
  • 10 vitamins for $70,000
  • 25 vitamins for $125,000

A bowl of Max Soup in Pokémon Adventures

The Master Dojo first appeared in Flutter!! Tickets to a New Land, where Klara and Avery were revealed to be students there. After finding an unconscious and poisoned Henry at the Soothing Wetlands during their training, they brought him to the dojo, where Hyde used the Cram-o-matic to create an antidote for him. Shortly afterwards, Casey and Marvin reunited with Henry at the dojo. Even though they weren't official apprentices of the dojo, Mustard offered to let Casey train his Kubfu. However, since Casey already had a full team of six Pokémon on hand, she refused, so Mustard entrusted Kubfu with Henry instead.

Henry, Casey, and Marvin stayed at the dojo as they conducted their search for that Rusted Sword and Shield across the Isle of Armor, with Henry also training Kubfu on the side.

Max Soup was seen in a flashback in PASS42, where Mustard was revealed to have given Henry, Casey, and Marvin each a bowlful of it as a parting gift when they left the Master Dojo, enabling their respective first partner Pokémon to Gigantamax.
