Location ![]() Location of Wedgehurst in Galar. |
Wedgehurst (Japanese: ブラッシータウン Brassie Town) is a small town located at the southern end of the Galar region. To the south is Route 1 and to the east is Route 2.
Slogan
Our quiet borough is home to the esteemed Pokémon Research Lab. (Japanese: ポケモン研究所が ある 郊外の のどかな 町 A quiet suburban town where the Pokémon Research Lab is.)
Role
When the player first enters the town, a cutscene plays where Leon arrives from the station and is greeted by Hop, the player, and a crowd of fans. Hop, the player, and Leon then automatically return to Hop and Leon's house in Postwick where the player obtains their starter Pokémon.
When the player enters the town for the second time, they must meet Leon in front of the Pokémon Research Lab. An NPC blocks the path to Route 2, another NPC temporarily blocks the Pokémon Center entrance, and Wedgehurst Station is out of service, stating that the train is delayed due to a railcar inspection. After obtaining the Pokédex and walking north slightly, Hop will automatically lead the player into the Pokémon Center and offer them a tutorial (the player can decline). After this, the player can continue onto Route 2.
When the player enters the town for the third time (from Route 2), Hop will briefly show the way to Wedgehurst Station, which is in service at this point. Entering the station will then automatically begin a cutscene where the two take the train to Motostoke to begin their Gym Challenge (though the train will stop at the Wild Area Station first).
Places of interest
Wedgehurst Station
Wedgehurst Station is located in the southwest of the town.
By interacting with either the ticket stand or the turnstile, the player can catch a train from this station to the following locations:
- Wild Area Station (Wild Area)
- Motostoke Station (once the player has reached the front of the Budew Drop Inn)
- Hulbury Station (once the player has spoken with Chairman Rose and Oleana in the street near the Hulbury Pokémon Center)
- Hammerlocke Station (once the player has spoken to Hop outside the Hammerlocke Station)
- White Hill Station (once the player has visited Route 10)
- Wyndon Station (once the player has visited Wyndon)
From Version 1.1.0 onward, after the player has arrived at the Wild Area Station at least once, KlaraSw/AverySh will appear at Wedgehurst Station along with a station attendant. Talking to either person will start a short cutscene where a Galarian Slowpoke wanders into the station; the player can then interact with the Slowpoke to battle it. Once the Slowpoke has been caught, Klara/Avery will board a train to the Isle of Armor and leave, and the station attendant will disappear.
From Version 1.2.0 onward, if the player has the Armor Pass or Crown Pass, the station attendant is always present. If he is talked to before obtaining the Pokémon Box Link at the Meetup Spot, he will tell the player to get back to him once they "have access to the Wild Area". If he is talked to while Slowpoke is present, he will only ask the player to catch the Slowpoke. If the player has both obtained the Box Link and caught Slowpoke, he will remark on the player's Armor Pass/Crown Pass and allow them to travel to the Isle of Armor or the Crown Tundra. This adds the following locations to every station's ticket stand:
- Armor Station (once the player has visited Armor Station)
- Crown Tundra Station (once the player has visited Crown Tundra Station)
The station attendant remains at the station afterward, giving the player a duplicate prompt for the Armor and Crown Tundra Stations.

In the anime
Wedgehurst first appeared in Sword and Shield: The Darkest Day!, where Goh visited Professor Magnolia's laboratory with Sonia. Soon after their arrival, a Wishing Star fell from the sky and crashed down before them. While Professor Magnolia told Goh about her Dynamax research, Sonia fashioned the Wishing Star into a Dynamax Band, which she gave to Goh. After spending a night at the laboratory, Goh and Sonia headed to Stow-on-Side together.
The town briefly reappeared in Sword and Shield... The Legends Awaken!, where Professor Magnolia and Sonia discussed the aftermaths of the Darkest Day, including Sonia becoming a Professor herself.
