Effect
When used from the Bag on a Pokémon, it heals the Pokémon to its full HP.
In Pokémon Yellow, it also increases friendship when used on the player's Pikachu.
In the Generation I and II core series games, Max Potion is limited to healing only up to 999 HP instead of fully restoring HP, although the highest possible HP a Pokémon can legitimately have is 703 with a level 100 Chansey in Generation I or 713 with a level 100 Blissey in Generation II.
Likewise, in the early releases of Pokémon Platinum, the Max Potion is mistakenly programmed to only heal up to 1000 HP even though it is not possible to go beyond a level 100 Blissey with 714 maximum HP. This was changed in later revisions to heal HP up to the maximum.[citation needed]
Wonder Launcher
The Max Potion appears as a Wonder Launcher item. It costs 10 points to use.

- Main article: Max Potion (Emerging Powers 94)
Max Potion was introduced as an Item card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the English Black & White Series (the Japanese BW Era) in the Emerging Powers expansion with artwork by 5ban Graphics.
This card allows the player to heal all damage from one of their Pokémon. The player then discards all Energy attached to that Pokémon.

A Max Potion is also seen in the illustration of the Yellow A Alternate art print of the Trainers' Mail card from the Roaring Skies expansion.
