Sonia (Japanese: ソニア Sonia) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series games. She forms a sync pair with Yamper. She was first introduced in the story event Winter Wishes. The sync pair can be obtained through the sync pair scout from December 23, 2021. The pair's potential can be upgraded to 6★ EX from the time the pair was first released, which unlocks Sonia's EX style.

Description	Sonia is a new professor researching the legends of Galar and has already published a book with her findings. She's adventure buddies and childhood friends with Leon.

Sonia is also available in her special costume, partnered alongside Shiny Tsareena. The sync pair can be obtained through a limited costume sync pair scout and was first available on April 7, 2022. The pair's potential can be upgraded to 6★ EX from when the pair was first released.

Sonia in her Pasio Academy uniform forms a sync pair with Corviknight. This pair can be obtained through a costume sync pair scout and was first made available on April 14, 2026. This pair can be raised to 6★ EX since it first released.

Raising this sync pair to 6★ EX will unlock Song Key 08004, which allows "Battle! (Sonia) (Pokémon Masters EX Version)" to be played in the Jukebox.

Trivia

• Sonia shares her Japanese voice actor, Lynn, with her counterpart from the Pokémon: Twilight Wings miniseries.
• All versions of Sonia use special voice-over lines upon entering a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon) and victory with them. Those Trainers include Victor, Gloria, Hop, Nessa, Leon, and Professor Oak.

Origin

Sonia's design is based on her appearance in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Yamper is Sonia's only known Pokémon in the core series games. Yamper's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Sword.

Sonia's Special Costume design is based on the Queen of Hearts from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Sonia does not own a Tsareena outside this game. Tsareena's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.

Corviknight was introduced in Generation VIII like Sonia was. While she is not seen using own in the core series games, Sonia's animated series counterpart is seen using a Rookidee, Corviknight's pre-evolution. Corviknight's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Shield.
