Professor Phorus (Japanese: リン博士 Dr. Rin) is a Pokémon Professor who appears in Pokémon UNITE. As the head of the Aeos Research Institute, she studies Aeos energy, a powerful energy that permeates Aeos Island.[1] In fact, she was the one who discovered Aeos energy. [2] She has an assistant named Erbie. Together they created Unite Battles, the premier way of enhancing the power of Aeos energy.[2][3]
In the games
Professor Phorus is a scientist who conducts research on Aeos energy. She is assisted by a researcher named Erbie. Her partner Pokémon is Metagross.
She introduces the player to Aeos Island and Unite Battles along with a presentation of Remoat Stadium. But she defers most of the teaching to Erbie, who actually guides the player along in the tutorial battles. Phorus does appear in Tutorial (Basics 2) at Mer Stadium to explain certain game elements, alongside Erbie.
Phorus shows up again after the player reaches Trainer level 3 to introduce the Beginner Challenge, an event for new players. When the player reaches Trainer level 6, Professor Phorus allows the player to use the Energy Rewards menu. There, she explains that the Aeos Research Institute has created a machine that turns Aeos energy from Unite Battles into energy rewards, a number of items selected at random that range from clothing to Holowear to various currencies to Boost Emblems. She allows the player to use the machine at their leisure. Professor Phorus does not appear again after this point.

Pokémon UNITE Manga - Come On Over to Aeos Island!
Professor Phorus appeared in the first chapter Aeos Energy, reminiscing about her youth with her Beldum, where she played with many of the wild Pokémon on Aeos Island. In specific, she recounted an a time where she conducted a race for her Beldum and a wild Scorbunny. For some reason, the two Pokémon appeared to evolve as they ran. This encounter inspired Phorus to do research and ultimately discover Aeos energy. In the present, she and Erbie explained the power of Aeos energy to an audience at a Unite Battle Committee event. She was joined by Metagross, who evolved during the intervening years from her Beldum. Together, the two humans explained the creation and purpose of Unite Battles and hinted at plans for further events. Unite Battles were open for business after this point.
In the second chapter, Zirco's Holowear, Professor Phrous does not appear in person. However, Erbie attempted to convince Zirco to wait for him to get Professor Phorus's approval on adding Holowear to Unite Battles before selling any. Zirco ignored this and sold pre-orders for his holographic cosmetics.
Phorus reappeared in the fourth chapter, In Search of an Aeos Energy Spot. She and Erbie were searching for a new Aeos energy spot in a mountainous area alongside their partners Metagross and Elekid. Phorus kept an eye on the Aeos energy readings using a tablet, and made part of the climb on the back of her Metagross.
The two researchers came across a foggy area, but Erbie's Rufflet used Defog to clear the air. They found hidden ruins and high Aeos energy readings, indicating that the ruins were atop the Aeos energy spot. Phorus declared the area the future location of the Theia Sky Ruins stadium.
Phorus considers herself to be better at research than at logistics, deferring those tasks to Erbie.

Professor Phorus has had Metagross since she was a child, when it was a Beldum. In Aeos Energy, Phorus recalled a time where she conducted a race between it and a wild Scorbunny. As Beldum dashed to the cliff marked as the finish line, it appeared to evolve all the way up to a Metagross due to Aeos energy. As Professor Phorus grew up, Beldum evolved along side her, continuing to help with her research. It was seen at a Unite Battle Committee event introducing Unite Battles, alongside Phorus.
In In Search of an Aeos Energy Spot, Metagross accompanied Professor Phorus into the mountains of Aeos Island as they searched for an Aeos energy spot. Partway through, Metagross carried Phorus on its back as she examined her tablet. Metagross was present when the ruins were discovered that would come to be known as the Theia Sky Ruins.
None of Metagross's moves are known.
