| Description | This Trainer loves Pokémon and adventure. He continues to train in the Alola island challenge, and his skills have even gained him recognition from Professor Kukui. |
Elio (Japanese: ヨウ Yō) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series games. He forms a sync pair with Popplio and its evolutions, Brionne and Primarina. The sync pair can be obtained through sync pair scout, starting on April 17, 2021.
Popplio → Brionne → Primarina
Popplio can evolve into Brionne once it has reached level 30 through its Sync Pair Story Popplio's Evolution, and then into Primarina once it has reached level 45 through its Sync Pair Story Brionne's Evolution.

Trivia
- Elio has never appeared in a story event or main story area that Selene has not also appeared in. They are the only pair of protagonists with this distinction.
- They are also the only pair of protagonists where neither is clearly based on the player character from their games of origin. They both moved from Kanto to Alola, went on the island challenge, and have a Meowth as a family pet.
- In the story event Galar's Poké Ball Enthusiast, it is confirmed that Elio knows that Professor Kukui is the Masked Royal.
- This was first implied in the Countdown 2021 log-in bonus, where Elio starts to address the Masked Royal as "Professor" before catching himself.
Origin
Elio's design is based on his appearance in Pokémon Sun and Moon. Popplio is one of the starter Pokémon of Alola in the core series games. Popplio, Brionne, and Primarina's Dex entries come from Pokémon Ultra Sun.
