Trivia

Origin

Petey's design is based on the male Poké Kid Trainer class from Pokémon Sword and Shield, whose outfit is designed to resemble a Pikachu. Although no Poké Kids in the core series are called "Petey", some of Petey's dialogue is similar to that of certain male Poké Kids in Pokémon Sword and Shield: his first sync pair viewer line and his dialogue upon being defeated are similar to what Poké Kid Rhys says before battle and upon being defeated, respectively, while his dialogue upon winning a battle is similar to what Poké Kid Shane says after battle. Additionally, like Petey, Poké Kid Shane uses a Pikachu and attempts to fool people into thinking that he is also a Pikachu. Pikachu's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.
