Like the player, Bel lives in the starting town of Kanoko Town, and is also a childhood friend of the player (and soon-to-be-rival). Though she is somewhat unreliable and a bit of an airhead, she also has a strong side, as shown when she embarks on a Pokémon journey despite her father's strong opposition. This is emphasised in Raimon City, where her father disallows her to become a Pokémon Trainer. With the help of Raimon City Gym LeaderKamitsure, Bel convinces her father to let her follow her dream.
Like the player and Cheren, Bel receives a starter Pokémon as a gift from Professor Juniper at the start of the game; she chooses the Pokémon with a type disadvantage to the player's starter Pokémon. The player encounters Bel on several occasions, where she often challenges the player to a battle.
Bel made her debut appearance in BW013, when she is sent by Professor Juniper to deliver a badge case to Ash. Unfortunately, Bel is a very clumsy girl and ends up knocking Ash and Dent into a nearby stream. Despite being older than Ash, she has only just started her journey due to her father not allowing her to become a Trainer when she turned ten.
Bel is shown to be very excitable, for instance when a Minccino stole the badge case and Ash attempted to use Oshawott to get it back, Bel commanded him to use Hydro Pump despite the fact that Oshawott wasn't her Pokémon nor did he even know that move. She later made the same mistake when she commanded Pikachu to use Thunder Wave. Bel is also shown to be a bit of a crybaby, which was displayed when her Chaoboo was unable to defeat Minccino.
She also had a battle against Ash, where she used her Chaoboo against his Pikachu. She lost the battle after putting up a hard fight.
Pokémon
This listing is of Bel's known Pokémon in the anime:
Chaoboo is Bel's starter Pokémon that she received from Professor Juniper. Bel attempted to use it to catch a wild Minccino that had stolen the dirty badge case that she had given to Ash. Though it has overwhelming power, it was taken down by Minccino with a combination of Hyper Voice and Tickle.
Bel later used Chaoboo to battle Ash's Pikachu. Even though it significantly weakened Pikachu with a powerful Heat Stamp, the Fire Pig Pokémon still lost the battle after a full on collision with Pikachu's Volt Tackle. Despite these two losses Chaoboo is still powerful as it was able to win Bel two badges all by itself.
Minccino first appeared stealing the badge case Bel was delivering to Ash in order to clean it. Bel sent out her Chaoboo to battle him. He was able to dodge some powerful moves but using Hyper Voice and Tickle, Chaoboo had to be returned. Ash was about to send his Pikachu to battle the Minccino when Oshawott came out of his Poké Ball to battle him instead. Minccino dodged Oshawott's Tackle and evaded his Shell Blade before defeating him with a combination of Tickle and DoubleSlap.
Bel then tried tempting Minccino with a bowl and a dirty spoon which seemed to work, but Minccino just carried the bowl away. They found where Minccino was hiding and Ash sent out Snivy, who used Attract, but Minccino used Attract back, forcing Ash to recall Snivy. Pikachu battled last, and the pair seemed to be equally matched. Minccino used his Tickle-Hyper Voice combination, but Pikachu used Thunderbolt, which dazed it.
Bel then manages to catch him when he was tempted to clean her dirty Poké Ball.
Bel makes an appearance as one of the Pokédex holders of the Unova region, she is a good friend of Black and along with Cheren, recommended him to be the third Pokédex holder for Professor Juniper. Due to an accident, her and Cheren's Pokédexes are currently broken, leaving Black with the only working one.
Oshawott was first seen in Professor Juniper's lab where it tried to stop a fight between Tepig and Snivy, only to be hit by the latter and making it join the fight aswell, leaving the lab in a complete mess. Later, in Kanoko Town it was delivered to Black along with Tepig and Snivy and once again stopped its partners from a fight. Later Bel took Oshawott after Black chose Tepig, and gave Snivy to Cheren before he could even protest.
Bel is a friend of both Monta and Cheren, not much is known about her, but although she is not as knowledgeable as Cheren. Her starter Pokémon was Oshawott at a type disadvantage to Monta's Snivy. She first appeared with Cheren, and after Cheren's lecture telling Monta his is inexperienced, Bel says he said too much. She then watches Monta and Cheren battle the Bike Gang King.
When Black and White were first released Bel was widely misreported to be the Champion of the Pokémon League the first time the player challenges it.
If the player does not choose Tepig as their starter Pokémon, Bel is the only rival who uses more than one Template:Type2 Pokémon on her team, using Enbuoh and Shandera if Oshawott was chosen and Baokkie and Shandera if Snivy was chosen.
In Pokémon Adventures, her starter Pokémon has a type advantage over the protagonist's. This is the reverse of the games.
In post-game rematches with Bel, all of her Pokémon know Return.
