Revision as of 23:54, 31 March 2024 by Frozen Fennec(talk | contribs)(Text replacement - "|v=Ultra Sun|entry=" to "|v=Ultra Sun|t=FFF|entry=")
Pelipper is a pelican-like Pokémon whose head and bill make up the majority of its body. It has white feathers with a short, blue crest on top of its head. There are three blue digits on each of its wide wings, and it has blue feet with three webbed digits. Each eye is made of two black semicircles with a horizontal white line between them. Its large yellow bill appears to extend along its underside.
Inside Pelipper's bill is a throat pouch that it uses to carry Eggs and small Pokémon such as its own young and Pyukumuku, and is large enough to fit a small child in. Due to this, Pelipper is often compared to a courier or a messenger. Skimming across the top of waves, it scoops food from the sea and swallows it in one gulp. It can swallow up to 30 Wishiwashi in one go, and loves to eat abandoned Luvdisc that are too despondent to be wary near the sea surface. It builds its nest on steep cliffs facing the sea. Young male Pelipper are in charge of gathering food and bringing it back to others at its nest. Pelipper rests its wings while floating in the ocean.

In Sky High Gym Battle!, Winona used a Pelipper against Ash during his Gymbattle with her. It had a unique way handling its weakness to Electric attacks, with Winona having it strike the ground with Steel Wing and pass the electricity harmlessly into it. Despite this clever tactic, it was defeated by Pikachu, who was knocked out at the same time.
In the Hoopa's Surprise Ring Adventures short Flying in the Air, a Pelipper was among the immense Flying-type Pokémon summoned by Hoopa to create wind for Ash and Pikachu, but their combined Gust was too much for them and sent them blasting off.
Four Pelipper appeared in Securing the Future!, with three being wild and the fourth under the ownership of a Trainer. They joined the rest of Alola in showering Necrozma with light so it could return to its true form.
Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire: Pelipper perches in the Sapphire Field and will stand upright for a while if the ball hits the button in front of it. During this time, Pelipper will swallow the ball in its beak if the ball goes into the coin loop. It will then either drop the ball over the Seedot bumpers or, if the button was flashing, send the player to the Sealeo Bonus Field.

Origin
Pelipper seems to be based on a pelican, which are known for their large beaks and throat pouches used to scoop up prey. It also resembles a small fishing vessel due to its body shape and its habit of floating on ocean waves and transporting small Pokémon in its beak. Its curved beak resembles the boat hull, its head resembles the deckhouse, and its eyes resemble doors with windows.
Name origin
Pelipper may be a combination of pelican and skipper (boat captain), flipper, or possibly propeller (device used for propulsion by both boats and planes). It may also involve lip, referring to its large beak, or clipper, a type of boat.
