List of Pokémon by Johto Pokédex number

This is a list of Pokémon in the order dictated by the Johto regional Pokédex, meaning that the first partner Pokémon from Johto will appear first, followed by Pokémon native to the Johto region.

Johto region's Pokédex (Generation IV)
The original New Pokédex from Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal was slightly altered in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver and is titled the Johto Pokédex. Five new Pokémon were added (specifically Tangrowth, Mamoswine, Lickilicky, Yanmega, and Ambipom), which all evolve from Generation I and Generation II Pokémon by the method of leveling up while knowing a certain move. As a result, some Pokémon were moved down the list; however, up to #101 (Yanma), the order remains the same.

Trivia
- The five Pokémon added to the New Pokédex to create this listing all evolve from their previous forms (which were included in the New Pokédex) when leveled up knowing a certain move. All other Pokémon related to Pokémon found in this Pokédex require other methods to evolve from their Johto Pokédex relative.
- Some Pokémon listed in the Johto Pokédex in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver cannot be caught in Johto.
- Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle are not found in the wild in the Johto region, only being obtained as a gift from Professor Oak in Pallet Town.
- Pikachu can only be captured in the Viridian Forest.
- Porygon can only be obtained after paying 9,999 C for it in the Celadon Game Corner's Prize Corner.
- Omanyte, Kabuto and Aerodactyl can only be obtained after being revived from fossils at the Pewter Museum of Science in Pewter City
- Snorlax can only be caught on Kanto Route 11 or 12.
- Articuno can only be caught on the Seafoam Islands. Zapdos is only captureable on Kanto Route 10.
- Mewtwo can only be captured in the Cerulean Cave.
- Being Mythical Pokémon, Mew and ,Celebi are only obtainable through Event.
- Slugma can only be caught on Kanto Route 16, 17 and 18 (can also be obtained from an egg delivered by Primo in Violet City, but the egg can instead hatch into a Mareep or a Wooper)
