List of Pokémon by catch rate in Pokémon GO
This is a list of Pokémon by capture properties in Pokémon GO. The base capture rate is a value used to calculate the final catch rate of a wild when hit with a thrown Poké Ball. The base flee rate is the probability that a wild Pokémon will flee after breaking out of a Poké Ball. Movement type dictates how a wild Pokémon may move around the screen during an encounter to possibly dodge oncoming Poké Balls.
Some species of Pokémon that are never meant to be encountered in the wild, such as baby Pokémon, are assigned the default base capture rate of 0%. Certain Mythical Pokémon which are encountered only through Special Research, such as Mew and Celebi, are guaranteed to be captured after breaking out of the first two Poké Balls.
Abra is a Pokémon that will almost always flee after breaking out of a Poké Ball, akin to how wild Abra always immediately use Teleport in the core series. On the other hand, certain Pokémon like Mew, Celebi, and Meltan are programmed to never run away. The base flee rate is only ever used in standard wild encounters. Pokémon from other encounters like Field Research rewards will never flee, and those from bonus challenges after completing a raid or Team GO Rocket battle will only flee after the player runs out of Premier Balls.
All Shadow Pokémon, regardless of species, have a list base capture rate of 5%. However, it appears that this capture rate only determines the color of its target circle, and the true catch rate is still based on the typical one for the species in question.
Due to how catch rates are calculated in Pokémon GO, the base capture rate is approximately equal to the probability of capturing a Pokémon powered up to level 14 without any bonus multiplier.
