- Main article: Kecleon Shop
The Kecleon Shop is run by two Kecleon brothers. The younger, green Kecleon runs the Kecleon Shop, which sells various items, such as Food, Throwing items, and Seeds. The older, purple Kecleon runs Kecleon Wares, which sells TMs and Wonder Orbs. The shop starts selling different items after completing Great Canyon, and again after completing Sky Tower.
Felicity Bank (Japanese: ペルシアン銀行 Persian Bank) is a bank run by Persian. This bank allows the rescue team to store money so it is lost if the party is defeated in a dungeon.
In Rescue Team DX, if the rescue team makes a transaction at Felicity Bank every day for a certain number of days, Persian will give them a reward. The reward can be an Apple, a Tiny Reviver Seed, a Max Ether, or an Oran Berry.

Gulpin Link Shop
Gulpin Link Shop (Japanese: ゴクリンの連結店 Gokulin's Link Shop) is a shop run by Gulpin that allows the rescue team to set moves, link them for combos, or remember forgotten techniques. However, in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, Gulpin cannot teach Deoxys moves it has forgotten, saying this is because Deoxys is a "special" Pokémon, but this has been accessible in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX.
In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, this costs 150 Poké; in Rescue Team DX, this service is free.
After completing the main story in Rescue Team DX, Gulpin will open up a new service for Pokémon to learn moves outside of their level-up and TM movepool (equivalent to moves learned by tutoring in the core series games). This service costs the player money, and the price differs for individual moves.
Outside of the square
- Main article: Whiscash Pond
Whiscash Pond is an area to the north of Pokémon Square. Its main inhabitant is Whiscash, who tells stories to the player. After saving the world from a meteor, it is possible to access Luminous Cave from here, which permits Pokémon to evolve.
Pelipper Post Office
The Pelipper Post Office (Japanese: ペリッパー連絡所 Pelipper Communication Station) is a post office run by multiple Pelipper located to the east of Pokémon Square. It allows the player to send SOS mail, lend a Pokémon to a friend, send A-OK Mail, and Thank-You-Mail. In addition, at the bulletin board in front of the post office, rescue missions can be accepted.
In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, statues are located outside the Pelipper Post Office, replacing the figures present in Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team. The Bonsly, Mime Jr., Weavile and Lucario statues are obtained by reaching Bronze Rank, Gold Rank, Diamond Rank, and Ultra Rank respectively. Each statue has the added effect of allowing the player to encounter the depicted Pokémon in dungeons; Bonsly, Mime Jr. and Weavile can be encountered regularly, while Lucario must be found inside Mystery Houses.
- Main article: Makuhita Dojo
Makuhita Dojo is located to the south of the square and is run by a Makuhita. The player's rescue team can challenge mazes to level up their Pokémon.

Pokémon Square first appeared in I Want to be Human Again!, where Ginji and Mudkip visited it. During their visit, they encountered Gengar, who asked them to accompany him to visit Xatu at the Hill of the Ancients. Initially, he only did so in order to get to steal some stuff from Xatu, but after hearing Xatu say that Ginji was actually a human, he told the residents of Pokémon Square the Ninetales legend upon his return there, claiming that Ginji was the human mentioned in the legend and that his existence was the cause of the natural disasters that plagued the world.
