Description | This Levincia City Gym Leader from Paldea is also a popular streamer and famous for hosting the Iono Zone. Her catchy greeting is unmistakable. |
Iono (Japanese: ナンジャモ Nanjyamo) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series games. She forms a sync pair with Bellibolt. This pair can be obtained through a Poké Fair sync pair scout beginning on January 12, 2024. This pair can be raised to 6★ EX since it first released.
In the games
Iono reveals that her goal on Pasio is to collaborate with a wealth of celebrities so her view count can soar, though quickly adjusts herself to say that she wants to make a lot more "friendos."[1] She quizzes the player about the best sights and activities on Pasio that she can stream at, with the intent to bring in lots of likes, or possibly even go viral.[2] Iono also teases the player when they ask about how she is off-stream, where she mentions that she must protect her image, otherwise she'll end up crushing the dreams of her fans. She says she'll spill what she's really like in her off-time if the player themselves becomes an even bigger influencer than she is.[3]
Iono references an unnamed influencer who does a variety of challenges involving Pokémon, with her example being one where the host allegedly tries to give a sticky Goomy a hug, which she found hilarious. She muses about the idea of doing some challenges herself, though immediately rejects the notion due to the backlash she could face for stealing the idea of another creator.[4] It's possible that the aforementioned creator is Raihan, an existing Dragon-type expert with a Goodra on his team, who also happens to be an influencer. Additionally, she also has a unique voice line referring to a collaboration when paired up with Raihan.[5] She also mentions elsewhere in the game that she's watched a lot of his content.[6] In another voice line, she refers to Elesa by name when partnered up with her.[7]
Iono's sync pair story involves the player spotting her in town on the island. She says that she's come up with the name of a game, "Who’s Iono’s Partner? I’unno!" and challenges the player to it, though they're able to guess before the challenge even starts. She chastises the player for not playing along, revealing that she's been streaming the entire time. Realizing that the player has been paying good attention to her, Iono asks another question regarding a previous stream of hers at the Levincia Gym and which Pokémon she used, naming Kilowattrel, Bellibolt, Luxray, Mismagius, and a final Pokémon that she wants the player to name. The player can guess correctly with Electrode, or incorrectly with Magnezone.
In events
In The Electrifying Influencer, Iono collaborates with Lear to showcase the island of Pasio to her fans as part of official Pasio content, which Iono mentions will get far more views than usual, due to the officiality of the collaboration.[8] During the livestream, she meets with Janine and the ninjas of Pasio, masked fighters such as Crasher Wake and the Masked Royal, famous faces of Galar, Raihan, and Nessa, (with Iono letting slip that their appearances are great news for her bank account)[9] whom she takes a selfie with.
She also meets both Elesa and Lisia, with Iono questioning the former about the design of her sygna suit, where Elesa reveals what they are and where they're made.[10] The scene shifts to a cooking-show that she refers to as "The Iono Cooking Show!" The group covers popular food from different regions, such as Pokéblocks from Hoenn and Poffins from Sinnoh. When talking with a group of Pokémon Professors from the series, Iono prompts them to give her viewers a short lesson of regional variants, where Iono reveals that she's never seen a Kantonian Tauros in person before. The stream ends with Iono talking to Ball Guy, revealing to the viewers that he's been in the background of the stream at multiple points, challenging the viewers to spot how many times he can be seen. From this, she mentions that she's choosing to archive this stream for some time so viewers can go back and spot other instances of Ball Guy, suggesting that she often chooses to private her streams after they have aired.[11]
