- Ignoring Scottie and Bettie, Steven is the first Trainer to form three strike sync pairs.
- During Hearts United, Steven makes a reference to Alain and his battle against a Rayquaza alongside him in Mega Evolution Special II, wishing to grow strong enough to surpass him alongside his Rayquaza partner.
- Steven's Mega Metagross and Karen's Mega Houndoom are the only Pokémon in Pokémon Masters EX to get 1.1 stat multipliers to their Defense.
- Steven's Rayquaza is the only Pokémon in a non-support sync pair whose Mega Evolution boosts neither its Attack nor Special Attack.
- It is also the only Pokémon in Pokémon Masters EX to have a 1.4× multiplier attached to its Mega Evolution (which is for its Speed).
Origin

Steven is not seen owning an Alolan Sandslash outside this game. Alolan Sandslash's Dex entry come from Pokémon Ultra Sun.
Steven's Shiny Rayquaza may be a reference to a variety of Shiny event Rayquaza that were distributed in various regions during Generation VI's lifetime. Rayquaza's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Omega Ruby.
