Personality
Drayton has a friendly and laid-back demeanor. Although Drayton appears unserious, he is really skilled in battling.
History
Background
Drayton comes from a prestigious family and is the grandson of Drayden, the Gym Leader of the Opelucid Gym.[1] Through his grandfather, Drayton is acquainted with Hassel of Paldea's Elite Four. As he skips class often, he ended up repeating a year three times.[3] He is the BB League Champion, though he never formally referred to himself as one due to wanting to avoid the responsibilities of being the League Club president, which come with the title.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
The Teal Mask
After Kieran lost Ogerpon to the player, Drayton was eventually dethroned as the champion, lowering him to instead being the leading member of the BB League Elite Four, situated at the Polar Plaza.
The Indigo Disk
Drayton first meets the player at Central Plaza after they've defeated Carmine and takes them to the League Club Room, where he introduces them to the BB League. Drayton invites the player to the Blueberry Academy Cafeteria to discuss officially joining the club, referring to the meetup as a "date",[4] much to the ire of Carmine, who tells the player that Drayton is annoying and advises them not to trust him. Later, at the cafeteria, Drayton suggests to Kieran and the other Elite Four members that the player should be allowed to enter the BB League. After a vote between the five ends in the player's favor, Drayton helps them register for the BB League. Each time an Elite Four member is defeated other then himself, Drayton comes by to congratulate the player. Drayton is also the only Elite Four member who does not require the player to pay Blueberry Points to register for his Elite Trial, as he asks his receptionist to charge it to his account instead.
Drayton's Elite Trial forces the player to battle three League Club members using only Pokémon that were caught in the Terarium, which excludes any Pokémon caught in Tera Raid Battles. After the trial has been cleared, Drayton can be battled. The player does not need to use these Terarium Pokémon during their battle with Drayton. He rewards the player with TM226 (Dragon Cheer) upon being beaten.
After the player has defeated Kieran, Drayton gives them a Master Ball, following which he, along with the player, Kieran, and Carmine, are invited to Briar's classroom, where she requests that they join her on an expedition to Area Zero. While the rest accept the request, Drayton declines, claiming he needs to guide the League Club through the aftermath of Kieran's dethroning, but in reality is just feeling too lazy to travel all the way to Paldea.
After the player has caught Terapagos, Drayton can be found in the League Club Room, where he offers to rematch the player once a day.
Appearance
Drayton has white hair with a purple streak, peach skin, and yellow eyes. He wears a black jacket with a yellow accent and Maschiff logo on the sleeve, baggy League Club Uniform shirt, a purple dragon trainer's cloak as a skirt with golden dragon designs on the edges, and either the BB Autumn or Winter Uniform, or the BB Track Suit.
Pokémon
Drayton's Archaludon knows Dragon Pulse in the first battle and Draco Meteor when challenged at the League Club Room. Drayton will always send out Archaludon last and Terastallize it at the first opportunity. Despite the overworld weather condition, the first battle takes place in clear weather.
Traded to the player
Upon the third unique interaction with Drayton in the League Club Room, he will trade a Duraludon to the player in exchange for almost any Pokémon excluding Shiny, Legendary, or Mythical Pokémon.

Pokémon Horizons: The Series

History
Drayton debuted in HZ115, joining the other students in watching the Double Battle between Nemona and Roy, in which the former would ultimately win. After Roy, Liko, Dot, and Ult decided to stay in Blueberry Academy for some training, Ann suggested that they ask some of the older students to train them, with Lacey asking him to help her train the group due to his status as an Elite Four member of the BB League, although he refused until ultimately accepting.
In the next episode, Drayton was observing Roy's training in the canyon biome. He then tricked Roy to do his Blueberry quests for him under the pretense of training, much to Lacey's anger when she found out. Drayton then decided to train Roy seriously in a double battle, upon finding out that Roy trained with Hassel, whom his grandfather is associated with. In their first battle, Drayton managed to win against Roy thanks to his weather tactics, telling Roy some advice to relax more and to not be so tense in battle.
In HZ117, Drayton helped Ult solve one of Lacey's quizzes, much to Lacey's displeasure. He also used Lacey's Plusle and Minun to give both himself and his Dragonite electrical massages before heading off elsewhere.
In HZ119, Drayton had a rematch against Roy, with the latter using better strategies to overcome his weather tactics. After Kingdra was defeated by both of Roy's Pokemon, Drayton had Archaludon attack Crocalor, only for Kilowattrel to protect its teammate and faint afterwards. After a clash of attacks, Drayton was surprised when Crocalor evolved into Skeledirge. After Terastallizing both their Pokemon, Roy's newly evolved Skeledirge defeated Archaludon, making Roy the winner of the rematch. Roy then thanked Drayton for his battle training, though Drayton playfully denied his actions as training before leaving.
Character
Just like his game counterpart, Drayton has a friendly but lazy and laid-back personality and tries to avoid doing any sort of heavy work, such as training other people, his laziness is further shown when he tricked Roy into doing his quests for him, much to Lacey's anger. Despite this, Drayton is a strong trainer, and seems to recognize potential as he ultimately accepted helping Lacey train the young members of the Rising Volt Tacklers, viewing them as being capable of becoming great Trainers.

Drayton is introduced as a Supporter card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the English Scarlet & Violet Series (the Japanese Scarlet & Violet Era). It was first released in the Japanese Paradise Dragona subset and the English Surging Sparks expansion, with artwork by GIDORA. An ultra rare version with artwork by the same illustrator and a special illustration rare version with artwork by DOM were released in the same sets. It lets the player look at the top 7 cards of their deck, and add 1 Pokémon card and 1 Trainer card found within those 7 cards into their hand.
Trivia
- The pattern on Drayton's cape, which is worn as a waistcloth, resembles the symbol icon that represents the Dragon type in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, Pokémon Sword and Shield, Pokémon HOME, and Pokémon GO.
- While Drayton's Sceptile is not a Dragon-type Pokémon, it could Mega Evolve into a Dragon type in previous generations. Additionally, all of his Pokémon are in the Dragon Egg Group.
- Drayton's Elite Trial and battle share similarities with Raihan's Gym Challenge and Gym battle in Pokémon Sword and Shield.
- For the respective challenges prior to the boss fights, the player faces three Trainers in Double Battles who do not use Dragon types exclusively.
- Both Drayton and Raihan use a member of the Duraludon evolutionary line as their highest-level Pokémon.
- Both of their teams have multiple users of the move Breaking Swipe.
- Drayton is the only BB League Elite Four member that is always present in the League Club Room in the post-game. This may allude to him never attending class.
- Drayton is mentioned by an NPC in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, imagining a potential battle between him and Iris.
