Dendra (Japanese: キハダ Kihada) is a character in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. She serves as the Battle Studies teacher at Naranja AcademyS/Uva AcademyV. She specializes in Fighting-type Pokémon.
In the core series games
Dendra is an energetic person and uses the energy while teaching. She always refers to the player as "new kid".
In her friendship story, she admits that while she is athletic, she is not good at cooking, especially making sandwiches. She improves her cooking by learning more from the player's feedback and practicing with Saguaro. Dendra reveals that she wants to make sandwiches for Miriam as gratitude, since the latter often patches up her injuries. Dendra looks up to Miriam because she is nice and skilled, and she wanted to learn a skill to help others the way Miriam does. She realizes that although she isn't skilled at making sandwiches, she decides to focus on being full of energy.
Dendra participates in the Academy Ace Tournament, including the scripted first round. The player can also find her in Alfornada, assisting in her childhood friend Tulip's Gym Test of ESP exercise, even after the player has already defeated the Gym. This is because Dendra lost a battle with Tulip, with the stakes being that whoever lost had to do whatever the victor wanted. According to Tulip, Dendra praises the player's skills in the Gym Test.

Dendra was introduced as a Supporter card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the English Scarlet & Violet Series (the Japanese Scarlet & Violet Era). It was first released in the Japanese Triplet Beat subset and the English Paldea Evolved expansion, with artwork by yuu. An ultra rare version with artwork by the same artist, and a special illustration rare version of the card with artwork by GIDORA were released in the same sets. It allows players to put a card from their hand on the bottom of their deck. If they do, the player draws cards until they have 5 cards in their hand. You can only play this card if you have at least one other card in your hand.
Trivia
- After Dendra recalls her Pokémon from battle, she pats the Poké Ball rather than simply nodding at it like many trainers.
- Due to her role in Tulip's Gym Test, Dendra can be found standing in two places at once indefinitely: Alfornada and the Academy.
- All of the moves used by Dendra's Pokémon are physical moves.
