Pokémon world locations

Victory Road (Japanese: チャンピオンロード Champion Road) is the final journey one must take before they can face the Elite Four, and refers to two different areas in Unova.

In Black and White, Victory Road is accessed via Route 10 to the immediate south. Ascending the area requires traversing both inside and outside of a steep hill. The player can slide down the hillsides to access different portions of the cave and progress further. After defeating Team Plasma at the Pokémon League and talking to Cheren on Route 5, he will stay here, where he can be rematched. He can be found in the uppermost cave section, right before the exit to the Pokémon League.

In Black 2 and White 2, Victory Road is accessed via Route 23 to the east. It is partially set within the ruins of N's Castle, then cuts through a small forest, and outside to the base of a large canyon. Only a tiny portion of the previous Victory Road may be explored; the uppermost cavern and the top ledge of the hill outside the Pokémon League. The rest of the area is blocked off by construction barriers due to an apparent landslide and cave in. When first entering Victory Road, N awaits and will give the player Waterfall. After defeating the Champion, N's Castle may be accessed from the newer part of Victory Road. This is the first place in the game where player is required to use HM to progress further, requiring both HM03 (Strength) and HM05 (Waterfall) in this case. Depending on the version, the path through Victory Road is slightly different.

Trivia

  • The cycling and surfing themes aren't used here.
  • All wild encounters here use the special wild encounter theme, the one used if the Pokémon were encountered via a phenomenon or the battle is a wild Double Battle.
  • If the player enters the area from the Pokémon League and uses Dig or and Escape Rope, they will be teleported to the point in the Pokémon League where they left the area. If the player entered by Fly or came through the Badge Check Gates, they will be teleported to the Fly point. This is likely due to the fact that the outside is part of the maze, and would be difficult to escape otherwise.
  • Ace Trainer Shanta and Doctor Logan can be found in the Victory Road of both Black and White and Black 2 and White 2.
