Gothorita is a black, humanoid Pokémon with slim arms and legs. There are two round black buns on each side of its head, with a smaller drop-shaped piece hanging from each. Adorning its hair are two pairs of white bows on each bun. It has a pale purple face with cyan eyes and red lips. It has two white bows on its body, which flares at the bottom to form a skirt shape.
Gothorita uses starlight as the source of its power, and is able to use its psychic powers to arrange rocks into the shapes of constellations. It can also use these powers to control people and Pokémon with hypnosis, leading people astray and putting children to sleep before kidnapping them. Because of this, Gothorita is known as the Witch of Punishment. Some people believe Gothorita is from outer space, although this connection is yet to be confirmed.
Gothorita, the Manipulate Pokémon and the evolved form of Gothita. Gothorita uses starlight as its power source. It arranges rocks in the same way as the stars, and can use its Psychic powers to control people and Pokémon.
Gothorita can be seen as a counterpart to Duosion. Both are Generation VPsychic-type Pokémon that are the second stage of a three-stage evolutionary line with first Evolution at level 32 and second at level 41. Gothorita is exclusive to Pokémon Black, Black 2, and Sword, while Duosion is exclusive to Pokémon White, White 2, and Shield. They both have the catch rate and they gain new moves at similar levels. However, Gothorita's base stat total is 20 points higher than Duosion's, though the other stages in its line have base stat totals that equal their counterparts'.
Origin
Gothorita appears to be based on a young girl dressed in Gothic Lolita fashion, as well as the common trope to associate goth girls with magical powers or witchcraft. The Gothic Lolita fashion itself is highly influenced by the fashion from the Victorian period of the United Kingdom and also by styles from the Rococo period, the Rococo being an artistic movement born in the 18th century in France that later spread to other parts of Europe and the colonial Americas.
Due to Gothitelle's ability to predict the future from stars, Gothorita's line may be based on diviners, or more specifically astrologers. Due to their feminine appearance and association with the stars, Gothorita's line may be inspired by the Virgo sign and constellation. This is further supported by Gothorita being the Virgo equivalent in Unova's Horoscope.
Name origin
Gothorita may be a combination of goth and señorita ("young woman" or the title "Miss" in Spanish), or a corruption of Gothic Lolita.
Gothimiru may be a combination of gothic and 見るmiru (to see).
