• Janine is accidentally named Charine in the English version of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. This is the only language in which such a situation occurs.
• In the English version of Pokémon Stadium, Giovanni’s name is misspelled Giovani (with one n).
• Despite not being present in Generation II games, Giovanni is mentioned by a Rocket Grunt in the Team Rocket HQ.
• Kiyo’s name, which was revealed during Generation II, is misnamed Koichi (Japanese: タケノリ Takenori) in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen due to oversight of original Japanese producers.
• Some characters, such as Lorelei, Eusine and the Kimono Girls, have different names in the anime. Mr. Stone was referred to as Mr. Stanwick in A Hole Lotta Trouble.
• Some characters, like Courtney, Matt, Shelly and Tabitha, have different manga names. In the Chuang Yi translation of the fourth chapter of the Pokémon Adventures manga, Professor Cozmo is referred to as Professor Starstone.
• Fisher Chris was renamed Tully in Pokémon Crystal.
• Apparently, in the English version of HeartGold and SoulSilver, Pryce's middle name is Willow.
• Lorelei is referred to by her correct name in Pokémon Puzzle League (an anime based game), despite being called Prima in the anime.
• Italian and Spanish Generation I games maintain the English name of every character.
• In the French versions, Brock and Steven share the same name: Pierre.
• Anabel's French name is listed as Capucine at the official Emerald site, but her in-game name is Cathy. Also, Thorton's French name was mistakenly listed as Thornton on the French Nintendo Europe website.
• In the Spanish version, Karen's name is changed into Morgana in Pokémon Stadium 2.
• Only Pokémon Gold, Silver, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, SoulSilver and Trozei! have been localized into Korean, so only characters from these games have a translated name in games (Brigette's names come from the manga, while Todd's name comes from the anime). Generation III characters also have localized Korean names from mangas and anime, which tend to vary.
• Before the localization of HeartGold and SoulSilver, Eusine was known under his Japanese name 미나키 Minaki in the Korean translation of Pokémon Adventures manga.
• Cal was originally known as 빛나 Bitna in the Korean versions of Generation II games. This was changed to 빛남 Bitnam in Generation IV, probably in order to differentiate from Dawn.
• Major Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs characters also have Portuguese names, used on the official Portuguese website of the game. As the Portuguese versions of the games don't exist, the names were probably simply invented for the website.
