Darumaka (Pokémon)
Revision as of 19:50, 1 April 2024 by Frozen Fennec(talk | contribs)(Text replacement - "/Entry1|v=Sword|area=" to "/Entry1|v=Sword|t=FFF|area=")
Darumaka is a round, red Pokémon with short arms and legs and a stubby tail. It has an orange face and curly yellow eyebrows. It has three yellow ovals on its abdomen and a curvy yellow line on its back. Its hands and feet are orange with three digits each.
Darumaka has a flame inside its body. While this flame is burning, Darumaka is very active. It cannot calm down in this state, and thus becomes uncontrollable. As the flame shrinks, it falls asleep; at rest, its internal temperature is about 1,100 °F (600 °C). It tucks in its arms and legs when it rests; during that time, it slightly sways. While it is sleeping, it cannot be tipped over no matter how much it is pushed or pulled, like a tumbler doll, which it resembles in this state. Darumaka is well known as a symbol of good luck. It is also known to have very warm droppings, which ancient people put in their clothes to keep themselves warm. It prefers to live in a desert environment.
Galarian Darumaka's snow-white coat is thicker than that of Unovan Darumaka. It has a pair of turquoise ice crystals in place of its eyebrows. Instead of oval-shaped markings, a pair of diamond-shaped ice crystals adorn its chest like buttons. Its face, hands, and feet are blue rather than orange. Unlike its Unovan counterpart, Galarian Darumaka has a timid frown instead of a mischievous smile.
Seismic shift in the Galar region long ago caused the warm climate to cool, and Darumaka in this region have adapted to this cooling. The fire that burned within their bodies went out, leaving an organ that produces cold air instead. The colder Galarian Darumaka gets, the more energetic it becomes. They can focus their internal energy to breathe out cold air in the form of snow, which they use to make snowballs for ammo in playful snowball fights with each other.[1] Galarian Darumaka enjoys eating Berries produced by Snover. This leads it to prey on Snover, often causing it to be driven off by Abomasnow.
Three Darumaka appeared in The Pirates of Decolore!, all under the ownership between two young Trainers. They were trapped on a stranded inflatable raft, but the group was eventually rescued by the pirate Pokémon.
In Pokémon GO, Darumaka can be obtained by completing 2/5 of the Special Research, Throwback Challenge Champion 2020. It can also be obtained by completing 2/5 of the Ticketed Special Research, Throwback Challenge Celebration 2020.
In their debut games, Pokémon Black and White, Darumaka lived in a desert with constant sandstorms, despite having no type-based protection against sandstorm damage. In The Lonely Deino!, Darumaka are shown to burrow under the sand, which may intend to clarify how they protect themselves in the sandstorm.
