Reason: What is the chance of encountering N's Pokémon in tall grass?

N's Pokémon are obtainable via Memory Link, with the exception of N's Zorua, who is obtainable through the main story by defeating Rood and receiving it from him. Once Memory Link is used, if the player has completed the storyline of Pokémon Black and White (defeating N and Ghetsis), the player must watch the flashback "Meeting Friends, Saying Good-Bye". After seeing this memory, the player may encounter N's Pokémon.

Upon encountering one of N's Pokémon, the game will notify the player by showing an entry animation that is similar to Shiny Pokémon, that has its own sound and green and yellow diamond lights. This animation will be overwritten if it becomes a star at Pokéstar Studios. The flavor text will read "A wild <Pokémon> appeared?!". Upon being captured, the game will notify the player that the Pokémon already has an original Trainer, before putting it in the player's party or PC storage. Once captured, the Pokémon will have N's ID number, 00002, and thus gains the boosted experience that traded Pokémon do.

These Pokémon cannot be nicknamed. N's Pokémon have a set nature and have IVs of 30 in every stat, and have maximum friendship when captured. They are coded to never be Shiny. While there is only one of each Pokémon, if the Pokémon faints or the battle is otherwise ended without the Pokémon being caught, it can be encountered again.

Enigma Special Background

Special "enigma Field Research" (Japanese: ナゾのフィールドリサーチ mysterious Field Research) was available in Pokémon GO during Pokémon GO Tour: Unova events in early 2025. Players with local event tickets in Los Angeles[1] or New Taipei City[2] on February 21–23, 2025 had a chance of receiving enigma Field Research tasks when spinning specific PokéStops. Players around the world were then able to access these tasks rarely from spinning any PokéStop from February 27 to March 2, 2025. These tasks rewarded encounters with N's Pokémon with a guaranteed Special Background inspired by the animation that plays when encountering them in the core series games. Unlike in the core series games, these Pokémon can be Shiny and, if applicable, either gender.

Trivia

  • Because N's Pokémon have individual values of 30 in each stat, if they are taught Hidden Power, then it will always result in a Fighting-type move with a base power of 70.
  • Some of N's Pokémon may contradict themselves from Pokémon Black and White, as in Black and White, their Abilities were set.
  • Unlike the other Pokémon, N did not use Woobat, Darmanitan, or Zorua in his battles with the player in Black and White. Instead, these are the Pokémon featured beside a young N in those games' introduction video.
  • Only N's ZekromB2/ReshiramW2 is not categorized as one of N's Pokémon.
