Skill Swap (Japanese: スキルスワップ Skill Swap) is a non-damaging Psychic-type move introduced in Generation III. It was TM48 from Generation III to Generation IV.

Effect

Skill Swap exchanges the Abilities of the user and the target. If a Pokémon affected by Skill Swap is switched out, it regains its original Ability.

Skill Swap fails if either Pokémon has the Ability Wonder Guard, Multitype, Illusion, Stance Change, Schooling, Comatose, Shields Down, Disguise, RKS System, Battle Bond or Power Construct.

Skill Swap bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the target is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly.

Generation III to IV

	This move effect may be in need of research. Reason: Details on which Ability activates first if both Pokémon have an Ability that activates when gained You can discuss this on the talk page.

If both Pokémon have the same Ability, Abilities such as Intimidate that activate when they are gained will not activate after using Skill Swap.

Generation V

When using Skill Swap on an opponent, it states the new Abilities of the Pokémon.

If the two Abilities being swapped both have an effect or message that activates when gained (such as Intimidate and Unnerve), the Pokémon using Skill Swap will always have its new Ability activate first.

If both Pokémon have the same Ability, Skill Swap will fail.

Generation VI onwards

If both Pokémon have the same Ability, Skill Swap will succeed. If it is an Ability such as Intimidate that activates when it is gained, it will activate for both Pokémon after being gained this way.

If powered up by a Psychium Z into Z-Skill Swap, the user's Speed stat raises one stage.
