A Pokémon Ranger (written as "PKMN Ranger" in-game prior to Generation VI; Japanese: ポケモンレンジャー Pokémon Ranger) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that debuted in the Generation III games. They come in male and female variations, dress in sturdy orange and black clothing, and carry a length of rope. Two Pokémon Rangers, one male and female, who battle together in Double Battles are called Rangers.

A Pokémon Ranger (Japanese: ポケモンレンジャー Pokémon Ranger) is a class of Trainer that debuted in the Generation III games. They come in male and female variations, dress in sturdy orange and black clothing, and carry a length of rope.
Unlike the Rangers of the Pokémon Ranger series, Rangers appearing in core series games collect and train Pokémon just like other regular Pokémon Trainers. However, they are still primarily concerned with protecting wild Pokémon, keeping the environment safe, and making sure travelers do not get injured or lost when walking through the wilderness, as they mention in their battle dialogue.

Unlike the Rangers of Fiore  Almia, and Oblivia , Rangers in Hoenn, Sinnoh and Kanto collect and train Pokémon just like other regular Pokémon Trainers. However, they are still primarily concerned with protecting wild Pokémon, keeping the environment safe, and making sure travelers do not get injured or lost when walking through the wilderness, as they mention in their battle dialog.
They specialize in Grass Pokémon in Generation III and they often have healing items. In Generation IV onward, they use a variety of powerful Pokémon, similar to Ace Trainers.

They specialize in Grass Pokémon in Generation III. In Generation IV they use a variety of powerful Pokémon, similar to Ace Trainers.
In Black and White and , they give out Berries when defeated, unless if they are encountered in the Big Stadium or Small Court, where they instead give out Max Repels.

* In All in a Day's Wurmple, twin brothers by the names of Forrest Franklin and Forrester Franklin refer to themselves as Pokémon Rangers.

Several Pokémon Rangers appeared in the anime, mainly in Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire. Generally, they are tasked with keeping an eye on an area and looking after the wild Pokémon there. Some of these areas are restricted and have to be protected from poachers.

Officer Jennys are often tasked with protecting the Pokémon Preserves like Safari Land and Pinkan Island.

In A Sappy Ending, Woodruff is a ranger for a Johto forest and wildlife bureau. In Mountain Time, Benji and his father are part of the Mountain Patrol, an organization that operated near Ecruteak City. While she did not reveal her job, Krystal acts as a sort of Pokémon Ranger in As Clear as Crystal. In Mother of All Battles, Ranger Mason and her comrades are in charge of protecting a Pokémon preserve on Mt. Silver.

A Ranger named Katrina appeared in A Bite to Remember. In All in a Day's Wurmple, twin brothers Forrest Franklin and Forrester Franklin referred to themselves as Pokémon Rangers. A Pokémon Ranger by the name of Mr. Morita appeared in True Blue Swablu. A female Ranger named Elisa was seen in Beg, Burrow and Steal.

In the Kanto region, a member of the Wilderness Guard Core named Kerrigan appeared in Duels of the Jungle!.

In Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl, while referring to herself as a Bird Keeper, Rosebay acts as a Pokémon Ranger of sorts in A Staravia is Born!. In Promoting Healthy Tangrowth!, Verona is a female Ranger who watches over the forest near Lake Acuity. In Regaining the Home Advantage!, Crispin guards a mountain where powerful Metagross and Magnezone lived and regularly did battle.

In Unova, Eric is a park ranger who works at Pokémon Hills in New Tork City in Genesect and the Legend Awakened. In Kalos, Keaton looks after a forest located somewhere near Geosenge Town in The Forest Champion!; and Keanan is the caretaker of a swamp located between Lumiose City and Laverre City that is the original home of Ash's Goodra.

In The Power of Us, two Rangers encountered Risa, who was looking for an Eevee near a mountain that had been off-limits for decades. They warned her to leave the area because of Zeraora's curse.

A Ranger named Kira appeared in Raid Battle in The Ruins!. She gave Ash and Goh advice on how to cross the hot sands of the Desert Resort, and she later joined them in a Raid Battle in the Colossus Ruins.

Emerald
In A Dust-Up With Dusclops, once Brandon mentions that virtual players appear in the Battle Pyramid challenge, the image of male and female Pokémon Rangers using Vileplume and Electabuzz appears as an example.

They specialize in Grass-type Pokémon in Generation III and they often have healing items. In Generation IV onward, they use a variety of powerful Pokémon, similar to Ace Trainers.

In Pokémon Black and White and Black 2 and White 2, they give out Berries when defeated, unless if they are encountered in the Big Stadium or Small Court, where they instead give out Max Repels.
