The Galaxy Expedition Team (Japanese: ギンガ Ginga-dan, literally Galaxy Gang), or the Galaxy Team for short, is an organization based in the Hisui region. It is made up of people from other regions who have come to study Hisui. It consists of several corps that are all lead by Commander Kamado. The shortened form of the name, Galaxy Team, also serves as a Trainer class for Kamado and Beni when they are battled.

The Galaxy Team shares its Japanese, Italian, Spanish, and Chinese names with Team Galactic of the modern day. Furthermore, the team's symbol is highly reminiscent of Team Galactic's logo, resembling a fusion of it and the kanji (ぎん) gin, from the Japanese word 銀河(ぎんが) ginga, meaning "galaxy". The relationship between both organizations, if any, is unknown.

The Galaxy Team appears only in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The player character serves as one of the Galaxy Team's Survey Corp, acting as one of the important factors in pushing the game's story. The group has come to Hisui to settle and research the region, as such, they are responsible for building Jubilife Village, due to Kamado's previous experience with wild Pokémon. The group is made up of people from other regions, including Hoenn, Alola, and Galar.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus

At the very beginning of the game, the player character winds up on Prelude Beach, not knowing of the location they are in. They are awakened by the Survey Corps' Professor Laventon, who they help catch the Pokémon that he had lost, Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott, and gets complimented on their skill on using the recently created Poké Ball. The professor brings them to the Galaxy Hall in Jubilife Village, introducing them to Cyllene, the head of the Galaxy Team's Survey Corps, who provides the player with shelter until they can pass the test in joining the Galaxy Team. Being instructed by Rei (if the player is female) or Akari (if the player is male), the player passes with flying colors, and is tasked to help in providing documentation on Hisui's five sub-regions, starting with the Obsidian Fieldlands. The nights prior to the beginning of the game, a horrible disaster has begun, with lightning coming down from the space-time rift that rests atop of Mount Coronet, crashing down on certain locations of Hisui. The player has fallen from this rift themselves, to which the town and the Galaxy Team lack trust in, and use them as a way to gain information on the situation related to the space-time distortions that may occur.

The Galaxy team is met with the Diamond and Pearl Clans, who have lived in Hisui prior to them. These clans have a history of arguments due to having different beliefs and ideologies in a god they have named "Almighty Sinnoh." Both clans have their leaders, Adaman and Irida, visit Jubilife Village to ask the Galaxy Team for help. The lightning from the space-time rift that has appeared has fallen on all four of the noble Pokémon, who the Diamond and Pearl clans care for, enraging the Pokémon and harming the land that they are known to care for. Commander Kamado, the Galaxy Team's own leader, tasks the player character in researching and quelling the raging Nobles, without taking part in either of the clans' personal affairs and avoiding any potential negative relationships with the Galaxy Team.

After the player has quelled all five of Hisui's noble Pokémon, a disaster originating from Mount Coronet has caused the sky to turn red, and Kamado expels the player character from both Jubilife Village and the Galaxy Team to prevent further harm to the village. The Galaxy Team makes their way to Mount Coronet to settle the situation on their own, and defeat whatever lies beyond the space-time rift. The player follows them, after meeting with the three Lake guardians, defeating both Beni and Kamado in battle and gains the commander's trust again.

According to Kamado and Cyllene in a post-credits scene, the name "Galaxy Expedition Team" came about when Kamado described the intelligence of Cyllene and others in the team to its patrons by comparing them to shining stars. One of the patrons then told Kamado he had a "veritable galaxy" for a team, thus leading him to name it the Galaxy Expedition Team. The Galaxy Team has plans to disband in the future, with Cyllene explaining that she will tell the stories and accomplishments of the Galaxy Team to her descendants.

Corps

The Galaxy Team is separated between multiple divisions and corps, with each division tasked with a certain purpose to help the people of Jubilife Village survive in Hisui as well as to make the location grow and prosper. The corps included with the Galaxy Team include the Survey, Security, Medical, Supply, Agriculture, and Construction Corps. Each group is led by its own captain.

A majority of Galaxy Team members will fall into one of these corps, but Kamado (who is the leader of the entire Galaxy Team) and Beni are the only members in the Galaxy Team who do not belong to any specific division. Charm was previously a Galaxy Team member, but it is unknown which corps she was affiliated with. The Miss Fortunes also all have articles of clothing that come from the Galaxy Team, with Charm wearing outfits from the Construction Corps and Survey Corps and Coin wearing the orange Agriculture Corps outfit.

Many members on the field outside of Jubilife Village will be nameless and are simply named Galaxy Member. These are usually Security Corp members who are tasked in patrolling areas in case other members or people are hurt.

Multiple buildings in Jubilife Village have roofs that line up with the coloring of each division, with many of the members living in said buildings.

Survey Corps

The Survey Corps (Japanese: 調査隊 Survey Team) is tasked with exploring the Hisui region and documenting its Pokémon. It has a rank system ranging from No Star for new recruits to Full Star (10 stars). Whether or not this system applies to the other corps is unknown. The player's friend, Akari or Rei, use this Trainer class when they are battled as NPCs. The Survey Corps has the smallest count of named members compared to the other divisions.

The Survey Corps has the most plot relevance, as Legends: Arceus focuses on the player's role on the team. As the Survey Corps is tasked with documenting Pokémon ecology, they are in charge in creating Hisui's first ever Pokédex. This Pokédex is developed by Professor Laventon through the player's documentation of fieldwork and research tasks. Among this daring task, the player is also appointed the mission of quelling the five noble Pokémon of the Diamond and Pearl Clans after their rage that was caused by the space-time rift from which they fell from. The player's friend is noted to be an expert crafter, and helped Professor Laventon in creation of the Origin Ball.

Members of the Survey Corps include:

The Security Corps also serves as a Trainer class (under the name Security Corps') for members of the corp, including Zisu, Wenton, and Ress. Compared to other divisions, they have the largest amount of named members.

The Survey Corps also keeps tabs on the other members who may leave the village, this system is managed by Ress, and the player must talk to him any time they decide to leave the location. They Survey Corps, along with Zisu and two others, follow Kamado and Beni up Mount Coronet to the Temple of Sinnoh during the games' climax. Pokémon: Hisuian Snow

Security Corps members, including Zisu and Cyllene in Pokémon: Hisuian Snow

The Galaxy Team appears in Pokémon: Hisuian Snow, with a majority of members appearing in Two Hues. Taking place prior to the events of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Alec visits Jubilife Village, and has a discussion with his father. This is interrupted by Cyllene, who at this point in time, is a member of the Security Corps, discovers a space-time distortion in the nearby Obsidian Fieldlands. Alec helps a hurt Rufflet, and begins discussing with the Galaxy team about the distortions appearing more frequently throughout Hisui, with a decision by him, Cyllene and the Galaxy Team's Security Corp to go out and survey the region and these phenomena at the Alabaster Icelands. The Security Corp experience a space-time distortion first hand, with several raging alpha Pokémon harming the natural wildlife that live in the Icelands.

Zisu makes common appearances in this episode, but has no speaking roles. Additionally, Kamado, Beni and Pesselle all make cameo appearances in the episode, with Professor Laventon and Cyllene (as the Survey Corps' captain) appearing in the Japanese end credits.
