X & Y arc

Route 15 first appeared in Pinsir Glares, where X and Y ventured out there in order to catch themselves Pokémon capable of Mega Evolving. After checking the Mega Stone list they had, X decided to catch a Pinsir and recommended that Y should catch an Absol.

In Scizor Defends, Y managed to catch herself an Absol, which joined her team without fighting back due to sharing her desire of stopping Team Flare. Soon afterwards, X and his friends found a weakened Scyther lying on the ground, after which they were attacked by a Pinsir. While X was able to subdue it with Marisso, he had no experience in actually catching Pokémon, so even his Poké Ball-throwing skills were subpar. Blue then appeared to help them, and X had Pinsir vent some steam with a brief battle against Blue's Scizor. Based on the old scars on Pinsir's body, X was able to deduce that the Scyther they had found was actually Pinsir's rival, and Blue revealed that Scyther had been drained of its life force, likely due to Team Flare's recent use of the ultimate weapon. X was then able to convince Pinsir to come with him by telling him they could fight against a powerful enemy together while waiting for Scyther to recover.
