Igglybuff is a small, bipedal {{wp|balloon}}-like {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} that is completely pink. Its body can turn deep pink when the temperature increases, or when it sings continously. It has a rounded tuft of hair on top of its head, a small swirl-like pattern on its forehead, and red eyes. Igglybuff has small, stubby limbs, and is usually seen levitating in the air. Rather than walking, this small Pokémon bounces like a ball to move around, as its body is extremely soft and elastic — although it may not be able to stop if it does this. As Igglybuff moves, it secretes sweat with a sweet fragrance, which calms the emotions of its foes.

Although it has singing abilities, Igglybuff is not able to sing for long periods due to its underdeveloped vocal cords. It often gets a sore throat from singing too frequently. When Igglybuff gets praised, its singing slowly becomes better and better. Igglybuff tend to live in the {{DL|List of Pokémon by habitat|Grassland Pokémon|grasslands}} close by freshwater streams. It uses water from the streams to gargle in its sore throat.

====Trophy information====
''Igglybuff, which evolve into Jigglypuff, are so incredibly elastic that they always seem to be bouncing. They have stubby legs, so for these Pokémon, bounding from place to place is much faster than walking. Unlike its equally adorable relatives, Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff, Igglybuff has red eyes.''

===[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky]]===
Igglybuff stars as the {{player}} character in the special episode Igglybuff the Prodigy. This Igglybuff is the unevolved Guildmaster {{p|Wigglytuff}} from the main story.

Igglybuff (Japanese: ププリン Pupurin) is a dual-type Normal/Fairy baby Pokémon introduced in Generation II. Prior to Generation VI, it was a pure Normal-type.

It evolves into Jigglypuff when leveled up with high friendship, which evolves into Wigglytuff when exposed to a Moon Stone.

Biology

Igglybuff is a small, bipedal balloon-like Pokémon that is completely pink. Its body can turn deep pink when the temperature increases, or when it sings continuously.

Igglybuff tend to live in the grasslands close by freshwater streams. It uses water from the streams to gargle in its sore throat. As mentioned in Pokémon Sleep, Igglybuff is known to bounce around while sleeping.[1]On rare occasions, Igglybuff practices its singing as it dreams.

Evolution

Igglybuff evolves into Jigglypuff, which evolves into Wigglytuff.

Gold, Silver & Crystal arc

In Gligar Glide, an Igglybuff escaped from the Daycare Center near Goldenrod City.

Whitney owns an Igglybuff, as first seen in Irked Igglybuff and Curmudgeonly Cleffa. She used her to battle what she thought was a Suicune when she visited the Mahogany Gym. Her Sweet Kiss provided an opening for her Miltank to attack the creature, but failed when the moving ice sculpture felled Miltank and forced her to team up with Pryce's Swinub.

In The Last Battle XIII, an Igglybuff is sent to participate in the fight in Ilex Forest.

Other appearances

Super Smash Bros. Melee

Igglybuff only appears as a random trophy.

Trophy information

Igglybuff, which evolve into Jigglypuff, are so incredibly elastic that they always seem to be bouncing. They have stubby legs, so for these Pokémon, bounding from place to place is much faster than walking. Unlike its equally adorable relatives, Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff, Igglybuff has red eyes.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky

Igglybuff stars as the player character in the special episode Igglybuff the Prodigy. This Igglybuff is the unevolved Guildmaster Wigglytuff from the main story.

Trivia

Origin

Igglybuff appears to be based on a balloon due to its inflatable body. Its soft fur and singing ability may be based on plush toys that play music to help children fall asleep. Its round shape resembles a powder puff or a cream puff, and its pink color, rubbery skin, and ability to learn Bounce are similar to a rubber ball.

Name origin

Igglybuff may be a combination of jiggly or wiggly and buff (a pale, soft, flexible leather).

Pupurin may be a combination of プチ puchi (petite) and プリン purin (pudding; referring to its soft body).
