It has a beige face while the rest of its fur is red with yellow stripes, sharing the appearance of molten lava. On its lower abdomen, back, and underside are raised, beige-colored bands that resemble pipes, leading to its tail. Heatmor's claws, on both its feet and hands, are a dull yellow and on its wrists are raised, dented bands; both the wrists and feet are beige-colored. Its tail is dented upward and has a hole in it, similar in appearance to a {{wp|muffler}}. It also seems to serve the same purpose as a muffler, being able to expel gases, although it is able to take in air as well.
{{p|Durant}} are the preferred prey of Heatmor. | {{p|Durant}} are the preferred prey of Heatmor. Heatmor expels flames from its mouth and uses it like a tongue, allowing it to burn through Durant's steel bodies before consuming their insides. It uses the hole in its tail to absorb air in order to keep its fire burning. Should the hole get blocked, Heatmor will become ill. In [[Generation VII]], {{m|Fire Lash}} was its [[signature move]].

Biology
Heatmor is a bipedal, anteater-like Pokémon. Its tail is dented upward and has a hole in it, similar in appearance to a muffler. It also seems to serve the same purpose as a muffler, being able to expel gases, although it is able to take in air as well.
Durant are the preferred prey of Heatmor. Heatmor expels flames from its mouth and uses it like a tongue, allowing it to burn through Durant's steel bodies before consuming their insides. It uses the hole in its tail to absorb air in order to keep its fire burning. Should the hole get blocked, Heatmor will become ill. In Generation VII, Fire Lash was its signature move.

Trivia
- Heatmor being the natural predator of Durant is reflected in their types.
- Heatmor and Durant were both designed by Ken Sugimori.[1]
- Heatmor and Durant have a lot of similarities. They share the same leveling rate, catch rate, hatch time, base experience yield, base stat total, and gender ratio.
Origin
Heatmor is based on an anteater with elements of ironworks.[1] Its wrists resemble air filter intake inlets and its tail is similar to an engine's muffler. Its Fire-type and tongue made out of flames might have been chosen to be effective on its rival ant Pokémon's type, Durant, which is Bug and Steel-type — both types are weak to Fire.
Name origin
Heatmor may be a combination of heat and armor or mortar, as well as a play on eat more or heat more.
Kuitaran may be a combination of 蟻食 arikui (anteater) and anteater, and possibly a play on 食い足らん kuitaran (has not eaten enough).
