Kangaskhan is a brown and cream colored kangaroo-like creature with a little purple baby.
Gender differences
Kangaskhan is a female-only species with no male counterpart.
Special abilities
Behavior
Kangaskhan are very nurturing to their young and other Kangaskhan, but if anyone tries to touch or harm their young the parent Kangaskhan will viciously attack the person trying to harm the baby Kangaskhan.
Kangakhan first appeared in The Kangaskhan Kid. A group of these Parent Pokémon were watching over a wild boy named Tommy, who in turn was protecting them as well.
A Kangaskhan let her child play with Pikachu and co. in one of the Winter Vacation Specials.
Kangaskhan was also used in a Sumo Wrestling Contest in The Ring Masters.
If you come across a young Kangaskhan playing by itself, you must never disturb it or attempt to catch it. The baby Pokémon's parent is sure to be in the area, and it will become violently enraged at you.

Kangaskhan does not evolve to or from any Pokémon, leading to controversy over the fact that it hatches with a baby already in its pouch in the games. It should also be noted that the Glitch Pokémon'M evolves into Kangaskhan. This is due to Kangaskhan's position in the game's internal programming, and is also why 'M (among other glitch Pokémon) can also evolve into Rhydon.
Strangely enough, Kangaskhan is the only Pokémon in the game that has had a known "baby form" ever since the Generation I but has never had an obtainable pre-evolution form (barring 'M). The only other Pokémon to have a situation like this could be Chansey, (with an unhatched egg in her pouch); however, this changed with the release of Happiny.
Kangaskhan's name is a combination of kangaroo and Genghis Khan, founder of the Mongol Empire (possibly how its Pokédex data refers to how violently protective it is of its child). Ironically, Genghis Khan was a male, but Kangaskhan is a female-only species. Its Japanese name is derived from English words "kangaroo" (カンガルー kangarū) and "ruler" (ルーラー rūrā). The German name is a combination of kangaroo and Mama.
