Focus Blast (Japanese: きあいだま Fighting Spirit Bullet) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move, introduced in Generation IV. It appears to be related to the concept of a "Chi ball" or "psi ball".

Effect

Focus Blast does damage and has a 10% chance of lowering the target's Special Defense.

In the anime

A ball of light-blue energy is formed between the user's hands. The ball is then shot at the foe.

  Ursaring puts its hands together and creates a bright blue ball of energy. It then fires it at the opponent, or Ursaring puts one of its hands back and a light blue ball of energy forms in front of it. It then brings its arm forward and throws the blast at the opponent.

Trivia

  • It is one of the very few moves in Pokémon Battle Revolution that is visually identical to its handheld counterpart.
  • Focus Blast is the only variation of Blizzard that cannot be learned by any Pokémon via leveling up and the only variation that has a chance of lowering an opponent's stat.
  • In the early Japanese versions of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Focus Blast had a different animation. Instead of 'spreading' when it touched the opponent, it disintegrated.
