Dragon Breath (Japanese: りゅうのいぶき Dragon Breath), formatted as DragonBreath prior to Pokémon X and Y, is a damage-dealing Dragon-type move introduced in Generation II. It was TM24 in Generation II.

Effect

Generation II

Dragon Breath inflicts damage and has a 30% chance of paralyzing the target.

Generation III onwards

Dragon Breath can be used as the first move of a Pokémon Contest combination, causing Dragon Claw, Dragon Dance, and Dragon Rage to score double the normal appeal if used in the next turn. It can also be used to finish a combination, with the user gaining 1 bonus appeal point if Dragon Dance or Dragon Rage was used in the previous turn.

Dragon Breath is now affected by King's Rock.

In Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, the move's accuracy has been decreased to 83.6%.

Altered Forme Giratina appears as a Poké Ball summon in both the 3DS and Wii U versions of the game. It blows opponents off of the stage with Dragon Breath.

In Pokémon UNITE, Dragon Breath is Dragonite's second starting move as Dratini. The user exhales a mighty gust in the designated direction. If this move hits an enemy, the user's next attack becomes a boosted attack. After evolving from Dragonair at level 8, this move is replaced by either Hyper Beam or Outrage.
