Luxray (Japanese: レントラー Rentorar) is an Electric-type Pokémon.
It evolves from Luxio starting at level 30. It is the final form of Shinx.
Biology
Luxray is a Pokémon resembling a fully-grown lion. It has three gold-colored rings on the backs of its legs and eyes with golden pupils and irises and red scleras. Luxray has a blue body partly covered with a spiky black mane from its head to its front legs and parts of its back legs. The mane is larger on a male Luxray than on a female. It has a long, thin black tail with a gold four-pointed star shape on the tip. Its eyesight is so powerful that it can see through most objects and walls, like x-ray vision. Because of this, practically nothing can go unseen by its eyes. Its electricity is also very reactive, and will flare uncontrollably when angered.
Luxray is extremely vicious and predatorial, although when tamed and trained correctly it can become very loyal and faithful, protecting its Trainer from danger. It tends to be stubborn and can administer extreme amounts of power through its electricity. Abusing a Luxray can cause it to become antagonistic and vengeful towards its Trainer. It needs a lot of compassion and praise to maintain its satisfaction, as it is a proud Pokémon. While generally independent, it may band with other Luxray in large groups and look out for one another in the wild. It lives in plains and various grassy areas, where it generally hunts for food.

Trivia
- Luxray is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 523.
Origin
Luxray is based on an adult male lynx or lion, or possibly the constellation Lynx or Leo, due to the fact that it resembles the animals and bears a star shape on the end of its tail. In addition, in European mythology, the lynx was said to have the supernatural power to see through solid objects, much like Luxray.
Name origin
Luxray is derived from lux (a measure of brightness) and x-ray (referring to its x-ray vision).
Rentorar may be a combination of レントゲン rentogen (x-ray) and 虎 tora (tiger).
