Friede (Japanese: フリード Freed) is a Pokémon Professor who appeared in Pokémon Horizons: The Series. He is the leader of the Rising Volt Tacklers.
In the anime
History
Friede first appeared in HZ001 when he came to Liko's rescue after she was confronted by Amethio. He battled Amethio with his Charizard go up against Amethio's Ceruledge. During the battle, Liko tried to escape on seeing the damage it was causing the school, Friede witnessed the power that the pendant possessed. After rescuing Liko from a fall in the next episode, Friede flew her back to the airship and introduced her to the best of his team, the Rising Volt Tacklers. Amethio, Zir, and Conia soon attacked the ship and Friede challenged Amethio to a battle, this time using his Pikachu to battle Ceruledge. The battle ended with the Explorers fleeing the ship, taking Liko's Sprigatito with them as a hostage.
Character
Friede appears to be a young and competent Trainer, albeit rather distracted. Despite this, Friede is quite protective of his team, whether putting himself in danger to protect the ship or protecting his teammates from opponents.
During the confrontations with the Explorers, Friede started a rivalry with the leader of the rival group, Amethio, and fought some battles against this Trainer.
