By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Changes button. Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Thanks! ----Pokemaster97 12:30, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

Yes I know, sorry. I did a mistake with the name of the character in the italian version, so I had to do it. It won't happen anymore XD Franky7

Serena's Pancham

I'll admit it was badly written, but how is it speculation? It has been stated by Nini and displayed by Smoochum herself that she has a crush on Pancham, who doesn't reciprocate. It has also been shown that Pancham does at least act friendly to her too in XY091 after winning the theme performance.-- --Handmaiden 101 (tAlk) 19:59, 7 November 2015 (UTC)

You used the terms "it seems" and "may be" in your phrase. I've not seen the episodes so I don't actually know what really happend between Pancham and Smoochum, I based myself only on what you wrote and, for me, it seemed to be speculation. Sorry if I'm wrong.--Franky7 (talk) 16:25, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
No problem, I should have worded it out properly.-- --Handmaiden 101 (tAlk) 20:26, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

Information Sources

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that other fansites, such as Serebii, are not considered a valid source. Information should only be added from the games, shows, or official sites affiliated with them. Thanks. Crystal Talian 15:44, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi! I can disagree with you about the Serebii's validity (they always report only true news and articles, Merrick is a serious person) but, as you can see here, it reports the name's of new episodes from TV-kun magazine. If a magazine of a tv cast program is not a valid source..--Franky7 (talk) 15:50, 6 August 2016 (UTC)
You're welcome to disagree. However, fansites (including Serebii) have been wrong in the past and are not an acceptable source. Anything copied from a fansite or stating a fansite as a source will be promptly removed. The magazine itself is an acceptable source, but it's preferable that the user adding such information actually have access to the magazine itself. Thank you. Crystal Talian 16:50, 6 August 2016 (UTC)
As you wish ;)--Franky7 (talk) 16:56, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

So I was right, uh? XD--Franky7 (talk) 12:10, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

"Not standard"...

Not standard for what? I never knew there was a standard for writing biographies. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 20:46, 8 August 2018 (UTC)

If you take a look at other voice actors' pages, you can see that no-one contains phrases like "dozen of episodes". It's too generic, bad written and useless, better write (next to voiced character's name) the episodes between it was voiced [like Janet (AG010-AG035), for example]. Or, again, you can say "He voiced [the character] between 2014 and 2017".--Franky7 (talk) 15:01, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
Just because it wasn't written on other voice actor articles doesn't mean it should not be written at all. And how exactly is it generic and badly written? I can't just clarify the exact episodes Jo Armeniox, for example, voiced Shauna; that's for characters who had more than one voice actor. GrammarFreak01 (talk) 19:20, 11 August 2018 (UTC)
How can be "a dozen of episodes" encyclopedic? You have to write properly, the more specific way you can; could you find in other pages things like "he voiced the character for hundreds of episodes"? Surely not. If you cannot clarify the number of episodes, just not write anything.--Franky7 (talk) 12:19, 12 August 2018 (UTC)

Iris's Emolga

I'm not sure what you're talking about with Excadrill. The trivia is pointing out that Emolga isn't weak to one of its types. Excadrill, as a Steel/Ground, is weak to the Ground type, making the trivia valid.--Rahl (talk) 21:49, 9 November 2018 (UTC)

So sorry, I've read "Is weak to one of her types" and not Isn't. My mistake :(--Franky7 (talk) 16:38, 10 November 2018 (UTC)

Pokémon Lover's Club edit

It has been decided by an admin to add this trivia. Please see : User_talk:Force_Fire#Conflict editing. Jeangabin666 (talk) 15:15, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

I saw, to me is still useless and not notable, but that's it.--Franky7 (talk) 08:44, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

James's Cacnea

Hi, wanted to ask you about edit you made in James's Cacnea article. Was there something wrong with my link template? If so, I'm eager to learn. Do you think sentence "James's Cacnea is the only one of its Pokémon to have appeared in the anime." is... "okay"? Itan (talk) 10:57, 29 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi and sorry for the delay! Nothing wrong, don't worry, I've just fixed the template, it's lighter for the servers than a direct link. The phrase itself is correct (up to my memory ahah) =)--Franky7 (talk) 16:59, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
Well, you just changed the whole sense of sentence. It was about species, while your edit... I just don't seem to understand how that can be interpreted. It was fixed later by other person, with the same (your) template but spelling "species" (instead of "Pokemon") as it was in my version. Anyway, thanks for the answer about template. Itan (talk) 18:11, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
Oh sorry, didn't see I missed one world, I intended to do as the later fix XD I answered you without checking out what I did and I was sure to have done it properly. I wanted to do it as it's now. Forgive me again!--Franky7 (talk) 10:11, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

Yosaku and Sylvester

I think that their pages should include quotes from their video game counterparts, like Damian. Maybe even info on their game counterparts, like on Harper and Sarah. N. Harmonik (talk) 13:36, 10 September 2021 (UTC)

They are based on tc character, not on a specific one.--Franky7 (talk) 16:00, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
What is a TC character? N. Harmonik (talk) 22:08, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
Trainer Class.--Franky7 (talk) 08:31, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
What are you typing about? Charcoal makers aren't a trainer class. How many other charcoal makers are there? N. Harmonik (talk) 18:43, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

You got a point. I didn't mean the tc, but they're based on, not the same. Ask an admin.--Franky7 (talk) 07:53, 16 September 2021 (UTC)

Raboot and Flygon Vs Zapdos

Hi, it's a combination of moves between the two yes, Raboot uses Draco Meteor to gain altitude while Zapdos gets distracted with a move and then Raboot uses Blaze Kick. In pair battles, the two Pokémon are listed in the section and Raboot only beat Zapdos because of this Flygon move.

If you doubt it, you can look at the Pokémon sections of the anime Coordinators, such as Dawn(Dawn's Pachirisu and Dawn's Mamoswine) and May(May's Blaziken and May's Beautifly).--Hikaru Wazana (talk) 14:04, 27 October 2021 (UTC)

Ok, forgot that episode. But you have to say it's against Zapdos, during Flygon's capture it's not a combination.--Franky7 (talk) 09:31, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

Caught vs. Obtained

I noticed that you reverted several of my edits regarding Ash's Unova Pokémon without giving a reason. The reason I changed the wording for those pages to begin with is that all of those Pokémon were caught after he obtained Oshawott, and the numbering on those pages imply that Oshawott himself was also "caught" rather than being given (i.e. it's more accurate to say that Pignite was the third Pokémon in Unova he "obtained" rather than "caught").

In addition, plenty of other Pokémon belonging to main characters use the wording "acquired" or "obtained" on their pages, and some specifically make a point to distingush between Pokémon that were caught and Pokémon that weren't. (Dawn's Mamoswine is specifically referred to as her fourth caught Pokémon, despite being her sixth overall; the pages for Iris's Emolga/Dragonite call them her second and third caught Pokémon, ignoring Axew since he was given to her; Clemont's Luxray is referred to as his second Pokémon caught during his journey with Ash in Kalos, ignoring Chespin since it was given to him.)

While you could just make the wording technically correct (calling Pignite the second Pokémon Ash caught in Unova rather than the third, and so on), I think it would be more inclusive to just say that they were acquired/obtained. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 03:03, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

Hi! You can't say they were obtained if they were actually caught. You can reword maybe the numbering, but "caught" suits better. I didn't change the numeration because those phrases are there since years, maybe ask an admin what's better.--Franky7 (talk) 13:32, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
Catching a Pokémon is the same as obtaining a Pokémon, but obtaining a Pokémon is not always the same as catching one (since they can also be received as a gift or via trading).
There is nothing wrong with referring to a caught Pokémon as "obtained". PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 16:30, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
After looking through the pages for other main characters' Pokémon again, it does seem like the usual solution is in line with rewording the numbering (although I do think that "obtained" is still more inclusive, considering the category on episode pages is even called "Episodes in which a main character obtains a new Pokémon"). Nonetheless, I'll go with what you proposed for now. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 17:31, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
Maybe for you the meaning is the same, but here in Italy they have a small difference. Obtain is something you receive, catch is an active action. If you would contact an admin for a better answer please do XD--Franky7 (talk) 17:55, 26 March 2022 (UTC)
Regardless of what the difference is in Italy, this is an English wiki. I was under the impression that your statement "You can't say they were obtained if they were actually caught" may have been some sort of rule from the admins themselves, but that doesn't appear to be the case. I'll once again refer to my initial post of "plenty of other Pokémon belonging to main characters use the wording 'acquired' or 'obtained' on their pages", along with the fact that "Episodes in which a main character obtains a new Pokémon" is a category on here.
I don't think this is a controversial decision by any means on my end. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 02:39, 27 March 2022 (UTC)
I've made a talk page post for this discussion on Ash's Pignite's page. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 04:10, 27 March 2022 (UTC)

Yes, but active and passive actions are the same both in Italian and English. Perfect for the post, let's wait.--Franky7 (talk) 14:55, 27 March 2022 (UTC)

I am not the only person who has talked about this, though. Rahl has told you the same thing in the past. PokemonMasterJamal3 (talk) 09:06, 1 April 2022 (UTC)

Ghost (literal)

Any reason you removed the link to the Ghost article on Wikipedia from the Ghost (literal) article? I added it to match other articles that cover real-world topics in the Pokémon world that have linked to the Wikipedia article on that concept, such as Illness in the Pokémon world and Christmas. Landfish7 08:35, 22 September 2022 (UTC)

I don't believe everything has to be link to wikipedia, even Ghost which is too generic.--Franky7 (talk) 09:17, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
Would it be fair to bring it up on the talk page and see what other people think? Landfish7 09:18, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
Why not?--Franky7 (talk) 10:18, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
I went ahead and started a new discussion. Landfish7 11:04, 22 September 2022 (UTC)

Orange Island names

Where do the Italian names of Fairchild Island and Cleopatra Island come from? Were they mentioned in the Italian versions of the episodes? I'm fairly sure neither name is mentioned in the English or Japanese versions of the episodes; the English names come from Extreme Pokémon: The Guide for the Ultimate Fan (which I'm not aware of having an Italian release) and I think the Japanese names come from The Memorial Book of Orange Islands (although I've not been able to confirm that yet). --SnorlaxMonster 01:56, 22 January 2023 (UTC)

Just copied from PCW, but we've just checked and there's no names. Edited the two pages.--Franky7 (talk) 15:53, 22 January 2023 (UTC)

Ash's Bulbasaur Trivia Removal

Is there a reason why you removed the Trivia on the Ash's Bulbasaur page? I believe the Trivia is relevant as it is (to my knowledge) the only time an occurrence where a Pokémon uses a move it should not know which is addressed in-universe. Nikuriku (talk) 15:23, 12 June 2023 (UTC)

It was poorely written, no reference to which move you were talking about and don't think it was so important. I coundn't understand anything about what you wrote.--Franky7 (talk) 16:04, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
I'll try and re-word it to make it easier to understand. Ash's Bulbasaur used Dig which it should not be able to learn. While there are incidents where Pokémon use moves in the anime which they should not be able to use in the games (Anime move errors), this particular incident was the first (and perhaps) only time this was ever addressed by another character that a Pokémon is using a move they should not be able to use. While it happened a second time in The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon, the Pokémon using the "illegal move" was an artificially created Pokémon designed to be able to use moves it shouldn't normally be able to use. Does that make more sense to you? Nikuriku (talk) 16:12, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
More better, but try to ask to an admin to find out if it is true and correct.--Franky7 (talk) 17:16, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
I've had a look at the trivia, I'm with Franky about the trivia, it is poorly written and doesn't feel that notable.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 15:37, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
