Toucannon's flock

Toucannon's flock is a group of recurring Pokémon that appeared in Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon. The flock consists of multiple Pikipek, who are led by a Trumbeak and Toucannon. They were also the foster family of Rowlet before Ash caught it.

Toucannon hatching the Pikipek Eggs

Toucannon is the leader of a group of Pikipek and one Trumbeak that lives in a forest on Melemele Island. Toucannon is responsible for hatching the Pikipek from Pokémon Eggs, while it leaves the hunt for food to Trumbeak and the Pikipek. By mistake, a Rowlet was born into the nest of Pikipek and would grow up alongside them.

Toucannon debuted in First Catch in Alola, Ketchum-Style!, where it was waiting at its nest for the Pikipek, Trumbeak, and Rowlet to return with fruit. When it turned out Rowlet had accidentally brought a wind chime instead of fruit, Trumbeak gave it a scolding and sent it back out. The next day, as the Pikipek and Trumbeak were out looking for food, Toucannon was flashing back to the time when Rowlet's Egg hatched among the Pikipek when Rowlet returned with a melon. At that moment, the group was attacked by Team Rocket, who were trying to get Bewear's Berries back. With the help of Ash, Rowlet managed to save them. Ash planned to catch Rowlet, but upon seeing it happy with its family, he decided not to. Nevertheless, Toucannon successfully encouraged Rowlet to join Ash.

In A Seasoned Search!, Toucannon was briefly reunited with Rowlet when Ash and Mallow visited its nest to see if its flock knew where to find Yellow Nectar. However, they didn't know where to find it.

In Securing the Future!, Toucannon and Trumbeak helped Necrozma regain its true form by giving it some of their Z-Power.

In No Stone Unturned!, Rowlet visited the family after losing to Hau and his Dartrix. Trumbeak used Bullet Seed alongside Toucannon, which helped teach Rowlet how to use Seed Bomb.

In Imitation Is the Sincerest Form of Strategy!, the family headed over to Manalo Stadium, where Rowlet was preparing to battle Hau and his Decidueye. Toucannon and Trumbeak showed Rowlet how to use Feather Dance, though Rowlet was unable to perfect the move in time for its battle. Toucannon later watched as Rowlet battled Decidueye.

In Battling on the Wing!, Toucannon continued to observe the match between Rowlet and Decidueye. It watched as Rowlet mastered Feather Dance before defeating Decidueye. After the match, Toucannon and the rest of the flock returned home.

Personality and characteristics

Toucannon has a caring personality, as shown when it was looking after the young Pikipek and Rowlet. It was also worried for Rowlet while it was searching for fruit by itself, as seen when it was pacing about the nest, remembering the time Rowlet accidentally hatched from an Egg. In addition, Toucannon gets annoyed if someone touches its beak, as seen when Rotom did so to see if it felt hot, making Toucannon intentionally heat its beak to burn Rotom.

Even after it left the family, Toucannon continued to help Rowlet, as seen in No Stone Unturned!, where, after Rowlet's loss to Hau and Dartrix, it helped it learn Seed Bomb. This would later be essential to Rowlet's victory in a rematch against Dartrix. This was seen again in Imitation Is the Sincerest Form of Strategy!, when Toucannon and the rest of its flock headed over to Manalo Stadium to support Rowlet by showing it how to use Feather Dance. Despite being one of the flock's leaders, it has a softer side, which was displayed in the Poké Problem segment of the same episode, where it reluctantly joined in on the Pikipek's cheering routine.

Trumbeak is part of a family of Pikipek led by a Toucannon that lives in a forest on Melemele Island. Its exact position in the group is unknown, although it is the second-in-command after Toucannon. By mistake, a Rowlet was born into the nest of Pikipek and would grow up alongside them.

Trumbeak debuted in First Catch in Alola, Ketchum-Style!, where it was leading the Pikipek in taking fruit from the citizens of Hau'oli City. The people of Melemele Island allow the group of Pikipek to take their fruit so that people and Pokémon can live in harmony. After taking the fruit back to their nest, it was discovered that Rowlet had accidentally brought a wind chime instead of fruit. Trumbeak scolded Rowlet for this and sent it back out.

The next day, Trumbeak led the Pikipek out once to more to get more food and invaded Bewear's den and took all of the Berries present. Returning to the nest, Trumbeak congratulated Rowlet, who had returned with a melon before the group was attacked by Team Rocket, who were trying to get Bewear's berries back. With the help of Ash, Rowlet managed to save them. They thanked it, with Trumbeak hugging Rowlet. It then watched as Rowlet left the group to join Ash.

Trumbeak and Rowlet

In A Seasoned Search!, Trumbeak was briefly reunited with Rowlet when Ash and Mallow visited its nest to see if its flock knew where to find Yellow Nectar. However, they didn't know where to find it.

In Securing the Future!, Trumbeak and Toucannon helped Necrozma regain its true form by giving it some of their Z-Power.

Trumbeak and Toucannon showed Rowlet how to use Feather Dance, though Rowlet was unable to perfect the move in time for its battle. It then flew off with the Pikipek before returning with a cloak resembling Decidueye for Rowlet to wear. Trumbeak later watched as Rowlet battled Decidueye.

In Battling on the Wing!, Trumbeak continued to observe the match between Rowlet and Decidueye. It watched as Rowlet mastered Feather Dance before defeating Decidueye. After the match, Trumbeak and the rest of the flock returned home.

Personality and characteristics

Trumbeak is rather stern, but caring all the same. It scolded Rowlet when it failed to bring food back to the nest and became annoyed at Rowlet when it fell asleep as it was telling Rowlet off.

Despite being annoyed towards Rowlet, Trumbeak praised it when it returned with a melon and is thankful of Rowlet's efforts. It even gave Rowlet a hug as it left to join Ash's team. This was seen again in No Stone Unturned!, where it welcomed Rowlet back into its flock and helped teach it how to use Seed Bomb. This was seen again in Imitation Is the Sincerest Form of Strategy!, when Trumbeak and the rest of its flock headed over to Manalo Stadium to support Rowlet by showing it how to use Feather Dance. Despite being one of the flock's leaders, it has a softer side, which was displayed in the Poké Problem segment of the same episode, where it reluctantly joined in on the Pikipek's cheering routine.

The Pikipek's Eggs

A group of Pikipek is part of a family led by a Trumbeak and a Toucannon that lives in a forest on Melemele Island. The Pikipek are bred from Pokémon Eggs by Toucannon. By mistake, a Rowlet was born into the nest of Pikipek and would grow up alongside them.

The Pikipek debuted in First Catch in Alola, Ketchum-Style!, where they were taking fruit from the citizens of Hau'oli City. The people of Melemele Island allow the group of Pikipek to take their fruit so that people and Pokémon can live in harmony. The next day, the Pikipek and Trumbeak invaded Bewear's den and took the Berries present. Later, back at their nest, the group was attacked by Team Rocket, who were trying to get Bewear's berries back before being saved by Rowlet. They thanked it and then watched as Rowlet left the group to join Ash.

Three of the Pikipek reappeared in A Seasoned Search!, where they were briefly reunited with Rowlet when Ash and Mallow visited its nest to see if its flock knew where to find Yellow Nectar. However, they didn't know where to find it.

Five of them reappeared in No Stone Unturned!, when Rowlet visited the family after losing to Hau and his Dartrix.

Four of them reappeared in Imitation Is the Sincerest Form of Strategy!, where they headed over to Manalo Stadium as Rowlet was preparing to battle Hau and his Decidueye. After Trumbeak and Toucannon showed Rowlet how to use Feather Dance, the Pikipek flew off with Trumbeak and returned with a cloak resembling Decidueye for Rowlet to wear. They later watched as Rowlet battled Decidueye. In Battling on the Wing!, they continued to observe the match between Rowlet and Decidueye. They watched as Rowlet mastered Feather Dance before defeating Decidueye. After the match, the flock returned home.

Personality and characteristics

The Pikipek are friendly Pokémon and seem to have a good bond with Rowlet. They are usually seen together as a flock and follow Trumbeak around whenever they are collecting fruit.

The Pikipek are supportive of Rowlet, as seen in Imitation Is the Sincerest Form of Strategy!, when they joined Toucannon and Trumbeak in traveling to Manalo Stadium and gave Rowlet a cloak shaped like a Decidueye before staying to watch the battle. Some of them seem to be assertive, as seen in the Poké Problem segment of the same episode, where they each cheered in a routine and stared at Trumbeak and Toucannon until they also joined in on their routine.

Rowlet

Main article: Ash's Rowlet

Rowlet was accidentally inducted into the group after hatching from an Egg in their nest, but it was quickly accepted as a member of the flock despite it being of a different species. Having brought a wind chime back to the den, Rowlet was sent off to find real fruit in First Catch in Alola, Ketchum-Style!. Rowlet later returned to the group with a melon which Ash had given it, hoping to catch it. It later freed the group from Team Rocket who attempted to get Bewear's Berries back. Toucannon, realizing that Rowlet would be happy with Ash, gave it permission to leave the flock, which it did.

Rowlet has revisited the flock on several occasions, including in A Seasoned Search!, and also in No Stone Unturned!, after its loss to Hau and his Dartrix, where it mastered Seed Bomb after some guidance from its family.
