Trivia
- Axew was first seen on concept art from the Best Wishes series along with Servine, Dewott, and Woobat.
- Axew is the only Pokémon with the ability Unnerve that is able to evolve twice.
- Axew and its evolutionary relatives are currently the only pure Dragon-type Pokémon that don't gain a second type by evolution.
Origin
Axew's tusks are similar in appearance to Scutosaurid's or possibly Ceratopsid's cheekbone tusks. Its crest may be based on a Hadrosaurid's, more specifically Saurolophid's, or possibly a Corytophanid's, possibly the plumed basilisk's.
Name origin
Axew is likely a combination of the words axe and chew or hew. Kibago may be derived from 牙 kiba meaning tusk, and 顎 ago meaning jaw.
