Espeon (Pokémon)
Revision as of 23:30, 23 May 2007 by Eifie(talk | contribs)(Pokedex Entry)
Espeon is the result of an Eevee being with a Pokémon trainer that it is close to for a certain amount of time and that moment happens during daytimes hours. Espeon has a cat-like appearance with purple fur. Espeon has skinny, forked tail. Espeon has clumps of hair near its ears that seem to resemble butterfly wings and a has a red third-eye gem on its forehead. Due to being a Pokémon of the feline persuasion with a third-eye gem, it has been mistaken a relative of Persian.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Espeon has developed Psychic powers due to a combination of great loyalty to its trainer and sunlight, such as the ability to predict it's opponents' movements by reading the air currents. Like most evolved Pokémon, Espeon can learn Hyper Beam or Giga Impact. One would also assume that Espeon can learn Power Gem due to being a gem-bearing Pokémon, but it doesn't.
An Espeon was the third and final Pokémon used by Anabel during her rematch against Ash for the Ability Symbol in Second Time's the Charm. The Psi Pokémon was defeated by Ash's Pikachu.
Espeon is extremely loyal to any trainer it considers to be worthy. It is said that this Pokémon developed its precognitive powers to protect its trainer from harm.

It appears to be based on legend of the nekomata, also known as bake-neko. Nekomata are mysterious two-tailed goblin cats. Simultaneously, Espeon also appeares to be based on an Egyptian goddess of the sun Bast, who was typically depicted with the head of a cat.
Name origin
Espeon's name is derived from ESP, or extra-sensory perception, a branch of psychic abilities. Eon was the proto-type for Eevee, Espeon's pre-evolved form. Espeon's Japanese name is probably derived from the fact that it's forked tail looks like a capital letter "F".
