Kingambit (Japanese: ドドゲザン Dodogezan) is a dual-type Dark/Steel Pokémon introduced in Generation IX.

It evolves from Bisharp upon leveling up after defeating three Bisharp that lead a pack of Pawniard. It is the final form of Pawniard.

Biology

Kingambit acts as the leader of Bisharp colonies; leading a huge army of troops in battle. It is extremely powerful, but flawed at devising complex strategies. It is said that only the strongest Bisharp evolve into Kingambit.

It is the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Kowtow Cleave.

Origin

Kingambit may be based on a samurai and a feudal era Japanese military commander.

Name origin

Kingambit may be a combination of king and gambit; both words are applicable terms used in chess (including in the opening known as the King's Gambit).

Dodokezan may be a combination of 奴 do (slave), 土下座 dogeza (kneeling down on the ground), and 斬 zan (to cut or slay).
