Trivia

- Luxray is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 523.
- Even though Luxray is renowned for its x-ray like vision, there is no attack or ability associated with it. It cannot even learn Foresight.
- Luxray is the only Template:Type2 Pokémon that can learn Superpower.
- Luxray was the first Template:Type2 to ever use Shock Wave in the anime despite countless Pokémon using the move before it. It is also the only one of its type to use the move outside of the movies.
Origin
Luxray is based on an adult male lion, or possibly the constellation Leo, due to the fact that it resembles a lion and bears a star shape on the end of its tail.

Luxray is derived from lux, a measure of brightness, and x-ray, referring to its x-ray eyes.
Its Japanese name is a combination of Röntgen, the physicist who discovered X-rays, and 虎 tora, tiger.
