Cofagrigus (Japanese: デスカーン Desukarn) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.
It evolves from Yamask starting at level 34.
Biology
Physiology
Cofagrigus is a blue and yellow sarcophagus with red, menacing eyes, with four ebony hands that appear to be shadows. A simply designed face is prominent on the "forehead" of the Pokémon, which is similar to the mask that its pre-evolution carries. White, sharp fangs create a taunting smile and flamboyant patterns veil the coffin. The coffin is said to be made of gold.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
According to its Pokédex entry in Black, ancient legends once told Cofagrigus could eat nearby humans and turn their lifeless bodies into mummies. It also has the ability to form two pairs of arms. Its real face is covered up by parts that slide out of the way when it is active.
Behavior
Cofagrigus imitates an elegant coffin to lure in unsuspecting grave robbers and punish them.
Habitat
They live in tombs and ruins.

Trivia
- Cofagrigus has the highest base Defense stat of all Ghost-type Pokémon.
- It also has the highest base Defense stat of all Generation V Pokémon.
- No other Pokémon has the same egg group combination as Cofagrigus and its pre-evolution.
- Cofagrigus is the only yellow Ghost-type Pokémon.
- Although Cofagrigus is able to learn Nightmare through breeding and Dream Eater through a TM, it does not learn any sleep-inducing moves.
- It shares this trait with its pre-evolution, Yamask.
- Previously, due to the censor that prevents Pokémon with offensive nicknames being traded on the GTS, an English language Cofagrigus could not be traded without a nickname. However, the filter has since been altered to allow Cofagrigus to be traded without a nickname.
Origin
Cofagrigus's design is based off a sarcophagus. It was also most likely based on supposedly cursed Egyptian tombs. Any trespassers in the tombs are said to fall under a "curse" from its owner, which is said to cause illness, serious injury, or death. The hype of cursed tombs was made popular when many people in a team of explorers in 1922, who had opened and entered King Tutankhamun's tomb, began dying after the exploration. Cofagrigus's ability to passively turn other Pokémon into mummies that in turn transform other Pokémon into mummies is very similar to the popular culture depiction of the spread of a "zombie virus" in horror films.
Name origin
Cofagrigus is likely a mix of sarcophagus and egregious, while also evoking the word coffin. Desukarn seems to be a combination of デス desu, transliteration of the English word death, and 棺 kan, coffin.
