Friede (Japanese: フリード Freed) is a Pokémon Professor and the commander of the Rising Volt Tacklers who appeared in Pokémon Horizons: The Series.

History
Friede debuted in HZ001. He was first seen coming to Liko's rescue on his Charizard's back after she was confronted by Amethio. His Charizard went up against Amethio's Ceruledge, but the confrontation ended abruptly after they witnessed the power Liko's mysterious pendant held. After rescuing her and Sprigatito from falling in the next episode, Friede flew her back to the Brave Asagi and introduced them to the rest of the Rising Volt Tacklers. The Explorers soon attacked the ship, and Friede challenged Amethio to a battle, this time using his Pikachu against Amethio's Ceruledge, only for the battle to be cut short by Liko. After Liko's Sprigatito unleashed a Leafage strong enough to break the forcefield around the battlefield, Friede and Liko watched powerlessly as the Explorers fled, kidnapping Sprigatito in the process.
In the next day, Friede and some of the Rising Volt Tacklers got together to search for Liko's Sprigatito. When Murdock's Rockruff found Conia shopping, Friede and Liko chased her back to a warehouse. There, he clashed against Amethio once again; this time, however, as a distraction to allow for Liko and Rockruff to be able to rescue Sprigatito. After they succeeded, Friede and Liko made their escape. At the end of the day, Friede confirmed that Liko's mother asked the group to protect Liko—something he had briefly mentioned earlier—and they decide to team up to uncover the mysteries surrounding Liko's pendant.
Character
Friede appears to be a young and competent Trainer, albeit rather distracted and forgetful. Despite this, Friede is quite protective of his team, whether putting himself in danger to protect the ship or protecting his teammates from opponents. Friede doesn't like to be acknowledged as a Pokémon Professor.
During the confrontations with the Explorers, Friede started a rivalry with the leader of the rival group, Amethio, and fought some battles against this Trainer.

Using its Flamethrower, Charizard is also used to supply heat to generate more energy for the airship if needed.
