History

Chalce prior to the Mega Voltage arc

Pre-series

Chalce was one of the members recruited by Hamber to follow Gibeon's mission, being trained by him personally along with the other members of the team barring Spinel. Among the four Hamber trained, she was the fourth and last to be recruited, after Amethio, Coral, and Sidian.

Pokémon Horizons: The Series

Chalce first appeared as a hologram in The Ancient Poké Ball, alongside the other Explorers admins.

The first time she spoke and was seen clearly was in Quaxly, We Can Do It, questioning Spinel about his last failure.

She made her physical debut in As Long as I'm with My Friends. She and the other admins joined in a meeting to discuss the Explorers' next objective. Eventually, they decided to go after the Black Rayquaza. Despite remaining quiet for practically the entire meeting, she questioned Spinel about what he actually had in mind during his participation in the meeting.

In Respective Departures, Chalce was monitoring Amethio's training with Hamber with Spinel, so they decided to focus on their main objective, which is finding Black Rayquaza.

In The Plan to Capture Rayquaza, Chalce, Coral, and Sidian summoned the Black Rayquaza near Levincia by using a machine that generated an energy similar to that Terapagos emitted previously and had their Pokémon battle against the Sky High Pokémon. They started strong, unleashing powerful super effective moves, but lost control over Rayquaza once Dot managed to shut down the machine. Once the tides had turned, Coral let her temper overcome better judgment and commanded her Glalie to use Self-Destruct, which was powerful enough to blast the Legendary Pokémon directly into the hull of the Brave Olivine.

Chalce as "Chive"

In Welcome to Naranja Academy!, Chalce was shown to have infiltrated Naranja Academy as a teacher, while also being able to forge enrollment permits for Coral and Sidian as students under fake names.

In Showdown! The Paldea Elite Four, Chalce watched Coral and Sidian's battles against the members of Paldea's Elite Four. During Liko's battle against Rika in the following episode, Dot discovered that Chalce was being spied on by Penny after discovering that Explorer's profile was illegally placed in the Naranja Academy system under the pseudonym Chive (Japanese: アゲパン Agepan). After a brief conversation with Dot, Chalce returned the Scarlet Book to the academy's library and left.

Spinel explaining his findings about Laquium to Chalce

In The Approaching Shadow!, Chalce helped Spinel separate Liko, Roy, and Dot's group as per his goals. After Spinel trapped Liko and Amethio in a cave, Spinel revealed to Chalce what he discovered after using the Laquium, which left Chalce in awe. In the next episode, Chalce monitored Coral and Sidian's battle against Roy and Dot and upon Grusha's arrival on the battlefield, she ordered their retreat. Later, during the meeting with Gibeon, Chalce acted as Spinel orchestrated and acted in a way that made it seem as though she had no part in the events that occurred at Glaseado Mountain, resulting in Amethio being put on probation from Explorers.

In Infiltrating the System! Naranja Academy in Danger!, Chalce had infiltrated the Naranja Academy to steal data regarding Terapagos. She sent Sidian and Coral to prevent Liko and Roy from interfering, while she sent her Medicham to keep guard. Medicham proceeded to alert Chalce of Dot's arrival and battled Quaxwell to stall them both. Despite interference from Dot's Tinkatink and Penny's counter-hacking, Chalce still successfully acquired the data before recalling Medicham and teleporting away with her Xatu to escape.

In Shine on, Terastallization! Liko vs. Roy!, Chalce met up with Spinel at the Explorers base and, looking at the data she stole, they discussed on their next moves.

In The Wonders of the World!, Chalce met with Spinel at Exceed headquarters, where they discussed Amethio's whereabouts after he was put on probation.

In The Truth Revealed!, Chalce attended a meeting with the other Explorers where Sidian reported that the Rising Volt Tacklers successfully obtained all Six Heroes and restored Pagogo to its full strength. Gibeon instructed everyone to prepare for the battle that will follow in Laqua.

The Explorers encountering the Rising Volt Tacklers in Laqua

In Where the Land Meets the Sky, Chalce spied on the Rising Volt Tacklers from the shadows in Pericarp Town before slipping into an Exceed building when Captain Pikachu sensed her presence.

In The Pokémon Paradise of Laqua!, after Pagogo removed the barrier keeping Laqua sealed, Liko, Roy, and Dot were greeted by Chalce, Coral, and Sidian. In the following episode, the Explorers admitted they were aware of Laqua's location from the beginning and just waited for the Rising Volt Tacklers to take down the barrier for them. Having achieved their goal, the Explorers decided to get rid of the Rising Volt Tacklers by battling them. Chalce had the advantage for most of her battle with Dot, but the latter eventually started gaining the upper hand after she implemented more unpredictable tactics. The battle never reached a proper conclusion as it was interrupted when a large vortex of pink mist began filling the air.

In Guided by the Black Rayquaza!, the Explorers continued to prevent Liko's group from heading further into Laqua, only to be attacked by Onia and Zirc. This distraction allowed Liko, Roy, and Dot to run ahead and confront Gibeon. Later, Chalce and her allies supported Gibeon by utilizing machines designed to stimulate the ground where the Laquium was buried, forcibly activating it and making it expand uncontrollably. Chalce, Coral, and Sidian used their Pokémon to block any incoming attacks that would damage the machines.

In Where the Adventure Leads, Chalce watched in confusion as Gibeon vanished. However, when Spinel announced that he would surpass Gibeon and that the Explorers would take control of Laqua, she quickly came to her senses, and when Sidian and Coral began to object to Spinel's sudden ambitions, Chalce told them that everything was fine and to just keep quiet and watch.

One year later, in The Strong Sphere, Chalce monitored the exhibition battle featuring the Explorers against Liko and Roy during the Strong Sphere demonstration. When Coral commanded her Glalie to use Self-Destruct, Chalce immediately raised a wall to block off the crowd and ended the event. After Liko, Roy, and Ult escaped, she met with the other Explorers to discuss their next objectives. Chalce also reminded Coral and Sidian that as long as the Explorers have the public on their side, Liko's group can't do anything to stop them.

Chalce confronting Dot and Penny at the Exceed Museum

In Charcadet's Wish!, Chalce was seen monitoring Hamber when he discovered Amethio's whereabouts from Zirc and Onia.

In Taking the Next Steps, Chalce was shown eavesdropping on a phone call between Hamber and Diana before teleporting away with the help of her Xatu.

In The Six Heroes Unleashed!, Chalce was tasked to prevent Cervantis from being rescued, challenging Dot to a battle. While her Medicham held the advantage with its use of Laquium, it was defeated once Dot's Tinkaton learned Gigaton Hammer. After her defeat, Chalce used her Xatu to retreat.

In HZ120, Chalce managed to intercept an invasion of Dot and Penny at the Exceed Museum along with Indi and Rubina. After a battle against the two Trainers' Pokémon, Chalce managed to separate Dot from her friend and leave the rest to her Explorer partners. Despite having the upper hand throughout the battle against Quaxwell and Tinkaton, Chalce couldn't prevent Dot from evolving her Gimmighoul and thus recovering the data on Laquium. Although she tried to stop Penny and Dot from escaping, she chose not to go after them, saying that at that moment it wouldn't make any difference to the Exceed's plans.

Character

Chalce and Dot

Chalce appears to have a calm and collected personality; she does, however, tend to be critical towards her allies if they fail missions, such as with Spinel and Amethio, as well as having a sarcastic sense of humor. She is also shown to be a skeptic, dismissing the existence of the ancient Pokémon discussed in Occulture as nonsense. She appears to get along with Spinel, with both of them being Trainers who specialize in gathering information, being discreet, and using subterfuge. In general, Chalce appears to be the intellectual of the group, researching and gathering knowledge and designing technology to help the Explorers achieve their missions.

Amidst the internal power struggle for supremacy between the Explorers admins, Chalce has proven to be particularly aligned towards Spinel and his goals, helping him monitor his various targets, joining him during the mission to try to get Amethio out of the way in The Approaching Shadow!, and ultimately giving her full support to his takeover of the Explorers as of Where the Adventure Leads. However, she has also subtly expressed discomfort with the ruthless extremes Spinel is willing to take as the new leader to achieve his goals and crush his opposition. She was seemingly displeased with Spinel declaring that he wanted Amethio to disappear and later expressed concern over his hastiness in wanting to crush the Rising Volt Tacklers using the Six Heroes. When Hamber made a comment on how she's "changed" since working with Spinel, she seemed emotionally affected by his remark and declared that she simply has her own goal to achieve, implying that she sees her cooperation with Spinel as more of an alliance of convenience rather than her becoming genuinely loyal to his goals. Ultimately, despite having often acted together numerous times, Chalce's association with Spinel can be described as a complicated one.

Among the members of the Rising Volt Tacklers, Chalce appears to clash most often with Dot, confronting her several times, including intellectually, this began during the battle against Rayquaza in The Plan to Capture Rayquaza and extended throughout and after the period in which Dot was present at Tera Training.

Pokémon

As seen so far, Chalce appears to specialize in Psychic-type Pokémon.

Medicham is Chalce's first known Pokémon as well as her main partner. Like its Trainer, Medicham shares a calm and reserved personality. This was seen in As Long as I'm with My Friends, where Medicham only avoided direct contact with Coral's Glalie.

In The Plan to Capture Rayquaza, Medicham was used to battle against the Black Rayquaza, where it, Coral's Glalie, and Sidian's Garganacl joined forces to damage it with their combined attacks. Roy tried to stop Chalce from catching Rayquaza with an Ultra Ball by having his Wattrel knock the Ball away with Spark, only for Medicham to knock it out of the sky with Psybeam. It soon battled Dot's Quaxly and Tinkatink, but this was merely a distraction to allow Dot to deactivate the generator that was luring in Rayquaza. It was then subsequently struck and defeated by Rayquaza's Draco Meteor, after which it was recalled by Chalce before retreating.

In The Approaching Shadow!, Medicham used its psychic powers to move a boulder to block Liko's path and separate her from her friends, as part of Spinel's plans. In Infiltrating the System! Naranja Academy in Danger!, Medicham was used to battle and stall Dot and her Quaxwell to prevent them from interfering with Chalce's plans. After Chalce acquired the data regarding Terapagos, she recalled Medicham and escaped with her Xatu's Teleport.

In The Rising Volt Tacklers vs. The Explorers!, Medicham was used to battle against Dot's Quaxwell. Despite having the advantage for most of the battle, thanks to Dot's unpredictable tactics Quaxwell was able to gain the upper hand in battle.

In The Six Heroes Unleashed!, Medicham was used to battle Dot's Tinkaton, having the advantage of Laquium and speed, though it was defeated once Tinkaton learned Gigaton Hammer.

Medicham's known moves are Psybeam, Zen Headbutt, Confusion, Calm Mind, Stored Power, and Axe Kick.

Xatu
Chalce's Xatu

Xatu is Chalce's second known Pokémon. It debuted in Infiltrating the System! Naranja Academy in Danger!, being called out by its Trainer to use Teleport to help escape from Naranja Academy after she managed to collect all the data she needed.

Xatu reappeared in Taking the Next Steps, teleporting Chalce away after she eavesdropped on a phone call between Hamber and Diana. Similarly, Xatu teleported Chalce away in The Six Heroes Unleashed! after it and Medicham were defeated by Dot and her Tinkaton.

In HZ120, Xatu and Medicham were called out at the Exceed Museum to battle Dot and Penny, alongside Indi and Rubina. After capturing Dot's Gimmighoul and keeping it hostage, Xatu and Chalce were able to lead Dot and her Pokémon away from Penny and subsequently separate them by lowering the facility's shutters. Afterwards, thanks to its Teleport, Xatu was able to trick Dot's Quaxwell into attacking Tinkaton just as the Practicing Pokémon was about to land a hit on it. However, once Gimmighoul evolved into Gholdengo, Xatu and Medicham were overpowered, which allowed Dot and Penny to ultimately escape from the Exceed Museum.

Xatu's known moves are Teleport, Night Shade, Aerial Ace, and Power Swap.
