Initially portrayed as a legitimate company, after its original chairman Gibeon passed away in Where the Adventure Leads, the Exceed Corporation became one of the main antagonists of Pokémon Horizons: The Series, having come entirely under the sway of the Explorers and its new boss Spinel.

History

The "Treasure of Eternity" Project

Pre-series

After Gibeon left Laqua, he founded Exceed to improve the lives of humans and Pokémon, as well as to research Laquium, aka the Treasure of Eternity. Friede was an ex-employee who worked as a researcher. He eventually quit his job to become an explorer, later forming the Rising Volt Tacklers.

Spinel is a researcher at Exceed who caught the attention of Gibeon, who decided to recruit him in his search for Laqua, becoming an admin of the Explorers.

Pokémon Horizons: The Series

In Quaxly, We Can Do It, Spinel used an Exceed freighter as a base of operations while in possession of Liko's pendant. Liko, Roy, and Dot infiltrated the ship and faced Spinel in order to retrieve the pendant.

Exceed first appeared in The Treasure of Eternity, where Friede and Captain Pikachu visited the facility in Levincia to find more information about Terapagos and Laqua. Spinel was shown working as a researcher and stole the Laquium shard that was being researched on before Friede could get to it.

In The Three Explorers, Diana revealed that Gibeon is the chairman of Exceed.

Amethio investigating Exceed alongside Onia and Zirc

In The Wonders of the World!, it was revealed that Spinel and Chalce were using the company's facilities for their own research on Laqua.

In Entei's Fierce Battle Cry!, Amethio is seen requesting information about Exceed's research from Cervantis. After Amethio leaves the room, Cervantis is approached by Spinel who reveals that he is aware that Amethio is Cervantis's son.

In The Truth Revealed!, Amethio, Onia, and Zirc infiltrated Exceed with the goal of uncovering Spinel's plans. During the mission, they were caught by the Exceed security team and thrown out of the facility. Amethio concluded that Spinel's influence extended to Exceed's security team and he has been doing things without Cervantis's consent within the company.

In Where the Land Meets the Sky, it was revealed that Exceed owns a building in Pericarp Town, where Chalce returned after spying on Friede.

Emma with a newspaper containing Exceed's version of events in Laqua

In Where the Adventure Leads, a year after the Laqua incident, Spinel became Exceed's director.

In Eyes to the Skies Once Again, Part 2, it was revealed that Exceed had obtained permission to close down the former Laqua site and held the Rising Volt Tacklers responsible for the incident, as well as making the Explorers public and some sort of heroes in the public's eyes. This led to the Explorers becoming celebrities in the public eye, in a direction quite contrary to what actually happened and to Gibeon's objectives.

In Following Traces of Laquium, it was revealed that Spinel released a report holding Amethio responsible for what happened in Laqua, and perishing along with Gibeon instead, which caused Cervantis to decide to resign from his position at Exceed. This situation made Hamber decide to conduct his own investigation into everything that happened during this period.

Exceed revealing to the public its new product, the Strong Sphere

With power over the Laqua area, Exceed began extracting the Laquium that still existed there and creating products based on it. One of these products began to attract public attention, and in The Pokémon Center Lady and The Strong Sphere, Liko and Roy learned of the existence of something called the Strong Sphere. Upon investigating, they discovered that a company base in Mochew City was going to hold a public demonstration of this item. For the demonstration of the brand new Strong Sphere, they invited several Trainers such as Ult and Dash to watch and see the product in action. Liko and Roy infiltrated the event and soon after faced Coral and Sidian and although the battle did not go as Exceed wanted, it was revealed by Dot that the demonstration was a great success on the internet and had a positive repercussion.

In The Prankster, it was indicated that Exceed did a similar event in the Paldea region.

In Orla, Grounded, it was revealed that the corporation hired Karna to create the sphere's exterior, refusing to tell her about its purpose. After learning the truth from the Rising Volt Tacklers, Karna ended her collaboration with the group. In the next episode, Indi and Rubina reported to Spinel at the Exceed office about their encounter with the Rising Volt Tacklers. Satisfied with the information, Spinel asked them to keep up the good work.

In Terastallization vs. Mega Evolution!, it was revealed that the information released by Exceed reached Naranja Academy, but Geeta and Clavell rejected Exceed's narrative and sided with the Rising Volt Tacklers while doing their own research on Laquium.

In Charcadet's Wish!, it was revealed that Cervantis had been transferred to an Exceed factory. During a conversation with Zirc and Onia, he was interrupted by Spinel's arrival. When questioned by the current Exceed president about the Strong Sphere's launch, Spinel assured him that everything was going according to plan.

In The Dusk Ball That Wouldn't Open, an Exceed subordinate was seen delivering a shipment of Strong Spheres to a local shopkeeper. After being approached by Rayu, Indi and Rubina decided to exchange a Strong Sphere for a Dusk Ball, but were stopped by Ult, who was the true owner of the item. After being defeated in a Pokémon battle, both the subordinate and the two Explorers left the place.

Exceed once again manipulating the population against the Rising Volt Tacklers

In HZ116, Carmine revealed that the false information disseminated by Exceed regarding the Rising Volt Tacklers had reached Blueberry Academy.

Operating in the shadows, Cervantis contacted Dot in HZ119. During their conversation, he revealed the existence of the Exceed Museum, a location where all the servers containing information about Laquium were being stored. In the following episode, Dot and Penny together broke into the Exceed Museum where they managed to gather important information about the Strong Sphere. In the process, they battled Indi, Rubina, and Chalce, managing to escape after a tough battle.

In HZ125, after an intense battle against the Six Heroes, Spinel used the recordings as evidence to manipulate the population of various cities around the world against the Rising Volt Tacklers. At the end of the broadcast, a Strong Sphere advertisement was shown, assuring viewers that this item will change the concept of Pokémon battles.

In HZ126. it was revealed that Exceed hired Iono to promote Strong Sphere.

Announcer

The announcer who hosted the Strong Sphere promotional event

This woman was the announcer during the exhibition battles during the launch of Strong Sphere in The Strong Sphere. She first narrated Dash's battle against an Exceed Trainer and then interviewed the girl. Quite perceptively, she discovered Dash's lack of confidence with Pokémon battles. During Liko and Roy's battle against Sidian and Coral, she had to intervene with Coral's temper problem and tried to make the audience believe that it was all part of the event when she threatened to blow everything up with Glalie's Self-Destruct.

Explorers

Main article: Explorers#Current members
Coral and Sidian, Admins of the Explorers who represent Exceed

During Spinel's tenure at Exceed, the Explorers became the front line in some operations to maintain good public relations. In The Strong Sphere, Coral and Sidian were used as the poster boys for this new vision for Exceed and generated a great deal of identification with the people who saw them as celebrities. This view is quite different from Gibeon or Lucius's view that the Explorers were more of an adventuring group and not influencers and celebrities.

In Orla, Grounded, Indi and Rubina served as mediators during an argument between Karna and some Exceed members and attempted to calm things down when Karna discovered the true function of the Strong Spheres.

Subordinates

In Orla, Grounded, two Exceed subordinates attempted to take a batch of Strong Spheres from Karna's Poké Ball factory, but were stopped by Ult. Despite their assurances that it was safe, Karna, with her strong sense of justice, decided to end the negotiation. This caused Indi and Rubina to join the discussion. In the next episode, they appeared wanting information from Indi and Rubina about what the next steps would be after the duo was defeated by the Rising Volt Tacklers.

In The Dusk Ball That Wouldn't Open, another Exceed subordinate was seen delivering a shipment of Strong Spheres to a local business. After being approached by Rayu and offered a Dusk Ball for the item, Indi and Rubina took over the conversation.

In Tinkatuff's Hammer Wasn't Made in a Year!, a woman introduced as the manager appeared, delegating orders and being responsible for scheduling events related to Sidian and Coral. Unlike the previous characters, this character has a firmer and tougher stance, even when faced with Coral's difficult temperament.

Outsourced

This list is of characters who do not officially work for Exceed, but were hired by them to achieve their goals. In We Are the Rising Volt Tacklers!, it was theorized by Karna that she would not be the only person hired to build the Strong Sphere. In HZ127, it was revealed that Exceed hired some digital influencers to promote its Strong Sphere.

Dot watching an Exceed ad in The Prankster

One of Gibeon's goals with Exceed was to improve the relationship between humans and Pokémon and through their research, some products were created by them for this purpose.

In The Strong Sphere, it was mentioned in an announcement by Exceed that their scope ranges from Pokémon food to urban development.

Product Description
