History

Pre-series

A young Ludlow as Guy Silver

Ludlow grew up in Olivine City in the Johto region. During his younger years, Ludlow worked as an actor named Guy Silver (Japanese: ギンジロウ Ginjirō) and starred in the Versus Sharpedo (Japanese: VSサメハダー VS Samehader) series of movies alongside his Sharpedo. Later on, Ludlow befriended a wild Palafin and teamed up with it, as he used the superhero name Mighty G (Japanese: マイティG Mighty G) to protect the sea. Somewhere in his life, Ludlow purchased a fishing boat and named it after his hometown, the Olivine.

As revealed in Flying Pikachu, Rising Higher and Higher!, Ludlow was Friede's mentor and let join him in his fishing on his boat. While in the Paldea region, Ludlow was fishing with Friede until he got a call from a teacher of his, Lucca. After Friede befriended a Pikachu and caught him as his partner, Ludlow was asked by him if he can have his boat, which he accepted. While at Slateport City in Hoenn, Ludlow met Friede's childhood friend Orla as she turned his fishing boat into an airship, as it became the Brave Olivine. Ludlow, Friede, and Captain Pikachu were joined by Orla as the four of them became the founding members of the Rising Volt Tacklers. Later, Ludlow would meet Murdock, Wy-Yes, and Mollie as they joined the Rising Volt Tacklers. Sometime after Wy-Yes left to become a journalist, Ludlow met Murdock's niece, Dot, as she joined the team. Ludlow also befriended a wild Quaxly that came to live on the Brave Olivine and often join him on his fishing.

Pokémon Horizons: The Series

Ludlow fishing with Dot's Quaxly

Ludlow debuted in The Pendant That Starts It All (Part One) alongside the other members of the Rising Volt Tacklers, sitting at a bus stop looking at his Rotom Phone whilst the other members of the Rising Volt Tacklers were looking for Liko at Indigo Academy. In the following episode, he was seen aboard the Brave Olivine.

In For Sure! 'Cause Sprigatito's with Me!, Ludlow remained onboard the Brave Olivine while the others searched for Liko's Sprigatito, whom the Explorers had taken hostage, in the nearby city. Whilst fishing, he was unaware that Zirc had found the ship and placed a dispostive on the hull. In The Ancient Poké Ball, Ludlow and Quaxly found the device and destroyed it so the Explorers wouldn't come after the group again.

In The Future I Choose, to everyone's surprise, Orla took Ludlow with her to a forest destroyed by a fire. When they got there, he sent out his Quagsire and ordered it to use Rain Dance, moistening the ground and allowing Arboliva to regrow the forest.

In Flying Pikachu, Rising Higher and Higher!, Ludlow was asked by the younger members as to how Captain Pikachu was able to fly during his battle against Roy in the previous episode, but could’t give them an answer because he didn't know himself. However, Ludlow decided to help the younger members get the answer they seek from Friede, which they were able to do as he tells everyone as to how he met Captain Pikachu and also tells of Ludlow's role in the formation of the Rising Volt Tacklers.

In Song Within the Mist, the Rising Volt Tacklers began searching for a mysterious Lapras they believed could be one of Lucius's Six Heroes. After finding a lead, the crew successfully found Lapras, only to learn it had become the leader of a group of Pokémon food thieves, the Lapras Pirates. In the following episode, Ludlow used his boat piloting skills and Quagsire's Surf to simultaneously keep pace with the fleeing Lapras Pirates and prevent the Brave Olivine from being hit by their attacks. Ludlow successfully kept the pirates from escaping, but was stopped when Lapras used its Ice Beam to freeze the Brave Olivine in place, preventing him from pursuing it any further.

In Respective Departures, Ludlow attended a surprise party for Diana, as she was planning to resume traveling alone. Once they bid farewell to Diana, the Rising Volt Tacklers resumed their search for the remaining Six Heroes. However, Ludlow was informed by Friede that they were heading to Paldea first in order to gain information on Terapagos.

In Transform! Hero of the Seas, Palafin, Ludlow was enjoying some time at the beach with Liko and Roy where it saw his old freind, Palafin, again. However, hearing that they were in trouble with a group of Klawf, Ludlow transformed into the Mighty G and called on his Sharpedo to help them out. After saving Liko and Roy by calming the Klawf down with Palafin's help, Ludlow returned to where he had been, pretending to have blown his back while quietly musing that being in his hero form for three minutes had left him in a bad shape.

In The Plan to Capture Rayquaza, Ludlow helped transport Liko, Roy, and Friede to a nearby island where the Explorers were seen building a mysterious tower. Once they arrived, Friede told Ludlow to watch over the children while he went inside to investigate the tower alone. Later, the Brave Olivine was severely damaged during a confrontation between the Explorers and the Black Rayquaza. While the ship underwent repairs, Liko, Roy, and Dot decided to become stronger by learning how to use the Terastal phenomenon.

In Into a New Sky! The Brave Olivine!, it was revealed that Orla had finished repairs on the Brave Olivine in addition to adding several improvements. Once Liko, Roy, and Dot finished their tour of the new-and-improved airship, Ludlow and the other adults watched as the children battled against the three Six Heroes members they had befriended.

In Ludlow's Homecoming!, the Rising Volt Tacklers arrived in Olivine City, Ludlow's hometown. While looking for information on Lucius's Entei, Ludlow and the children encountered a sailor named Siskel, who was a big fan of the actor Guy Silver, unaware that he was Ludlow in his youth. Siskel took everyone to the Whirl Islands, where one of Guy Silver's movies was filmed, but shortly after they arrived, the Tatsugiri trio from the Brave Olivine got trapped in a whirlpool. With help from Quagsire and Sharpedo, Ludlow managed to slip away and change into his Mighty G persona once again, allowing him to stop the whirlpool and rescue the Tatsugiri. Siskel thanked Mighty G for his assistance and came to the conclusion that Guy Silver and Mighty G were the same person all along.

Upon losing Friede at Mount Pericarp in Where the Adventure Leads, Ludlow and the others eventually returned their to look for him, only to find that Exceed had the area blocked off. With Spinel framing Laqua's destruction on the Rising Volt Tacklers, the group decided to lay low and go their separate ways.

Mighty G and Amethio

As revealed by Roy in Eyes to the Skies Once Again, Part 2, one year after the events in Laqua, Ludlow and the other Rising Volt Tacklers have disbanded.

In We Are the Rising Volt Tacklers!, as the others reformed the Rising Volt Tacklers, they wondered how they could contact Ludlow, as he no longer had a Rotom Phone and none of them had seen him during the one year interim. However, to their surprise, he appeared at his usual spot on the airship and just stated that he had "heard from the waves" of the Brave Olivine's departure. There, he met Ult, a new comrade of the younger members who proudly stated he would be joining everyone as a member of the crew. As they prepared to take off, Dot discovered a message from Friede revealing to everyone that he was alive and well, but was in hiding from the Explorers.

In Riding the Waves, Ludlow was relaxing with Quagsire on the Brave Olivine's deck when Quagsire sensed a disturbance. Quickly donning his Mighty G persona, they soon discovered Amethio and his Pokémon struggling to navigate a harsh storm, saving them and taking shelter in a cave. Ludlow left some ingredients behind so Amethio could prepare food for himself, returning to normal and observing them from the entrance. He became distraught upon seeing Amethio not doing anything and had to revert back to Mighty G, teaching Amethio how to cook curry rice and dry his clothes. He then learned of Amethio's present struggles and advised him that while his goal was righteous, he needed to stop once in a while, which the former Explorers admin appreciated. The following morning, Ludlow bid farewell to Amethio and returned to the Rising Volt Tacklers. Due to the significant amount of time he spent as Mighty G, he suffered from severe back pain afterwards.

Character

Ludlow's alter ego, the superhero Mighty G

Ludlow seems to prefer his own company, as he rarely interacts with the other members of the Rising Volt Tacklers, preferring to go fishing instead. However, despite preferring to be by himself, Ludlow has shown to be very wise and would deliver advice to those who need it, especially towards the younger members of the team. Ludlow also doesn't mind having Dot's Quaxly or his Quagsire hang out with him sometimes. In addition, Ludlow has shown to care about nature and would help preserve it in any way he can, as seen in The Future I Choose, when he decided to help restore a forest that had burned down.

Due to preferring to be by himself, Ludlow won't leave the Brave Olivine that often, as he would stay and watch over it whenever the rest of his teammates were absent. Ludlow also would steer the airship whenever it was in sea, due to the Brave Olivine being once his fishing boat. Ludlow seems to have a very good relationship with Friede as he was his mentor and stood by him when he decided to form the Rising Volt Tacklers. Ludlow also seems to get along well with the rest of his teammates.

Ludlow has a secret superhero alter ego called the "Mighty G" (Japanese: マイティG Mighty G), who protects peace by the sea with the help of a Hero Form Palafin. However, due to his old age, he's only able to stay in his superhero form for three minutes at a time and suffers from back pain afterwards. He also was an actor during his younger years and enjoys watching his old movies. In addition, Ludlow would use one of his movies to lecture the younger members, as seen in HZ121, when he used his space adventure film to explain to Dot, Liko, Roy, and Ult as to how space travel works.

Ludlow and his Pokémon

Ludlow's team consists of Water-type Pokémon. Both of his Pokémon are strong in battle and can hold their own. He usually uses his Quagsire as himself, while his Sharpedo is used when he is the Mighty G. His Pokémon are kept in Dive Balls.
