Delibird (Japanese: デリバード Delibird) is a dual-type Ice/Flying Pokémon.
It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.
Biology
Physiology
Delibird is a red penguin-like Pokémon with a sack-like tail. It has a patch of fluffy feathers on its chest that resembles a beard, and crests on its head. There is also a circular, white, button-like marking lower on Delibird's chest. Delibird has a white face with black rings around its eyes. Delibird's beak and feet are light-yellow.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Delibird's most famous power is that it attacks by giving presents to its opponents. These presents, glowing orbs pulled from inside its tail, often explode, damaging the enemy. However, this move is unpredictable, even for the Delibird. The effect of the present could harm an opponent, or could even help it.
Delibird is the only known Pokémon that learns Present by leveling up, and that is the only move it learns that way. It can learn other, more traditional Ice- and Flying-type moves by more indirect means.
Behavior
Delibird are often delivering items to either Pokémon or people. The deliveries are often from humans, but may be from Pokémon.
Habitat
Delibird tend to live in mountainous regions, making their nests over sharp cliffs.
Diet

In the anime
Delibird first appeared in Delibird's Dilemma under the ownership of Santa Claus. Ash's Totodile shot a Delibird that was delivering presents clear out of the sky with Water Gun-propelled snowball. Pikachu and co. had to help the Delivery Pokémon find the five presents before midnight.
Delibird's first appearance in the main series was in Dues and Don'ts. It was owned by an elderly talent scout from Team Rocket. Since that episode, the Delivery Pokémon kept following Jessie, James and Meowth to collect money that the three of them owe. Fortunately for the Rocket Trio, Delibird was no longer able to tail them since the action moved to the Hoenn Region. Delibird has also appeared in Grating Spaces and The Thief That Keeps On Thieving.
A Delibird also appeared in Battling the Generation Gap!.

Trivia
- Although penguins are unable to Fly, Delibird, a penguin-like Pokémon, can learn the move. However, it cannot learn Roost.
- Even though penguins appear only in the southern hemisphere of the earth, Delibird is owned by the north-dwelling Santa Claus.
- Delibird is one of the few Pokémon who cannot learn STAB attacks by level-up.
- Delibird, along with Articuno, is the only Ice/Flying type.
- Delibird is unique for the fact that it's one of the few Pokémon who can learn TM moves when it learns less than 4 moves by leveling up.
- Its sprites in Generation II had shorter head feathers, and it didn't have many feathers behind its head, making it look somewhat bald.
- It is the only non-Template:Type2 Pokémon capable of learning Ice Ball, despite Ice Ball being an Template:Type2 move.
- Delibird's National Dex number is 225; adding a 1 to the front of it makes 1225, furthering its probability of being based on Santa.
Origin
Aspects of Delibird's appearance appear to come from the Rockhopper Penguin. However, its red and white color scheme, its ability to give presents, and the appearance of carrying its sack-like tail may have been derived from Santa Claus. Delibird may have also been inspired by puffins, which are penguin-like birds that still have the ability to fly.
Name origin
Delibird's name is a combination of delivery and bird. The first two syllables of the name may have derived from the Adelie Penguin.
