First run
The event first ran from March 21 to April 7, 2023. The "Ball Guy Variety Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Ball Guy & Amoonguss for the duration of the event.

Event mission rewards included medals, Gems, Battle Points, a Level Ball Replica, a Support Move Candy Coin, and a Strike Move Candy Coin.

The special area, My Secret Hideout!, was unlocked after completing the first story area. This area could only be accessed in exchange for a Ball Guy Sticker +, which could be obtained from the shop or a log-in bonus. Players could obtain one of ten rewards after defeating Ball Guy in battle. Once all ten were received, players would no longer be able to battle Ball Guy, but would obtain a Big Pearl on revisiting.

After unsuccessfully trying to give out Poké Balls to Trainers with their Amoonguss, Ball Guy realizes that there is another kind of ball that could interest everyone. As they wonder how to go about making friends with one, a Colress and a Hoopa approach to offer help.
After unsuccessfully trying to give out Poké Balls to Trainers with their Amoonguss, Ball Guy has a discussion with them about what they could possibly do in this new situation. After a while of self-reflection, Ball Guy realizes that there is another kind of ball that could interest everyone. As they wonder how to go about making friends with one, a Colress and a Hoopa approach to offer help.

Later, Elio, Ethan, and Victor watch as a group of young Trainers share rumors about Ball Guy. Ethan wonders why Ball Guy is giving out items as Elio begins to ponder their identity, thinking of Kukui. Victor explains that he had met Ball Guy in Galar, where he had seen them give out Poké Balls and cheer on Trainers. As the three continue to discuss Ball Guy, they hear an explosion.

At Centra City, Ball Guy challenges passing Trainers while commanding an Electrode and some Voltorb to attack. Elio, Ethan, and Victor arrive and are concerned to see Ball Guy threatening Trainers. Victor runs over to ask them for an explanation, but they challenge him, too. Ethan and Elio rush to help him, sending out their Pokémon. Alongside a Black Belt and a Pokémon Ranger, they are able to defeat Ball Guy. Sawyer then runs into the area, followed by Lear. Ball Guy runs off when they see the two, prompting them and the others to chase them. Victor stays behind, confused as to what happened to Ball Guy.

All across Pasio, Ball Guy challenges Trainers while threatening to explode their Voltorb and Electrode. Elio, Ethan, and Victor meet with Lear, Sawyer, and Looker in the city to discuss the issue. When Lear plans to put Ball Guy on a wanted list, Victor tries to explain that there must be a reason for their actions. Refusing to let Ball Guy cause any more chaos, Lear and Looker leave.
All across Pasio, Ball Guy challenges Trainers while threatening to detonate their Voltorb and Electrode. In each group of trainers they challenge, a Galar gym leader is present, and comments to themselves about how they had seen Ball Guy before in gyms and wondering why their behaviour had changed so drastically. Victor stays behind and thinks to himself worriedly.

In an alley, Looker and the others corner Ball Guy by a gate. Looker demands for Ball Guy to explain their actions. Ball Guy tells everyone that they wanted to cheer on Trainers by using ball-like Pokémon to help them get stronger. They explain that they were inspired to pretend to be a villain after seeing Brycen act in a play. By acting as a villain, Trainers would feel the necessity to battle them, ensuring their growth. Victor reprimands Ball Guy for their actions, and they apologize.

Lear decides to let Ball Guy go with a warning, since they didn't cause too much damage. Looker asks Ball Guy where they got the ball-like Pokémon they used, and Ball Guy turns to see Colress and Hoopa, who are approaching from nearby. Colress reveals that Hoopa brought the Pokémon to Pasio, and that his Colress Machine amplified their power. Lear is infuriated, and Colress casually exits with Hoopa. As Lear chases after the two, Looker announces that the case is closed and departs. Distressed, Ball Guy begins to question their purpose on Pasio again. Victor points out that since they are good friends with their Amoonguss, they should form a sync pair with it.

Days later, Ball Guy and the Masked Royal have a battle in the city. When the battle ends, Selene asks Ball Guy if they can all take a photo together. Afterward, Ball Guy and Lisia dance in front of a crowd. They gift her a Love Ball, finding it to be fitting for an idol. Ball Guy then joins Siebold, Mallow, Gloria, Victor, and Ethan in a forest to make curry designed to look like a Poké Ball. Victor asks Ball Guy how they made the curry such a bright red color, and they reveal that they used lots of spices. Mallow, Gloria, and Ethan all begin to exclaim, having just started eating the spicy food. Later that night, Ball Guy explains to Victor and the others that they are willing to do everything they can to cheer people on so that one day they can become an official mascot.

When Ball Guy seems to be in a pinch, they're cheered on and their determination is renewed, continuing to battle. |-

|-
|Elio

|-
|Ethan

|-
|Victor

Galar's Poké Ball Enthusiast (Japanese: ガラルのボールマニア? Galar's Ball Maniac?) was a story event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pair Ball Guy & Amoonguss.

During this event, players could earn Ball Guy Stickers from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day.

The player could battle using Ball Guy & Amoonguss to obtain +0.6× bonus stickers; Victor & Rillaboom, Ethan & Cyndaquil/Quilava/Typhlosion, or Elio & Popplio/Brionne/Primarina to obtain +0.4× bonus stickers; and Scottie/Bettie & Pikachu, Scottie/Bettie & Torchic, or any unlisted Galar sync pairs to obtain +0.2× bonus stickers.

This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with teams using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.

In addition, players could earn a medal for completing all the story areas in the event.

Second run

The event reran from June 4 to 18, 2024. The "Ball Guy Variety Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Ball Guy & Amoonguss for the duration of the event.

Event mission rewards were changed to include only medals and Gems.

My Secret Hideout! did not return for this run, so Ball Guy Stickers + could also no longer be obtained.

Plot

Finding themself on Pasio, Ball Guy is amazed to see that famous Trainers have gathered on the island. Inspired, Ball Guy decides to become a mascot on Pasio and cheer on all of the Trainers. They call out to a Youngster walking by and gift him a Friend Ball. The Youngster explains that since there are no wild Pokémon on Pasio, there is no use for Poké Balls. Shocked and confused about what their purpose is, Ball Guy blacks out.

After unsuccessfully trying to give out Poké Balls to Trainers with their Amoonguss, Ball Guy has a discussion with them about what they could possibly do in this new situation. After a while of self-reflection, Ball Guy realizes that there is another kind of ball that could interest everyone. As they wonder how to go about making friends with one, a mysterious Trainer and a Pokémon approach to offer help.

Later, Elio, Ethan, and Victor watch as a group of young Trainers share rumors about Ball Guy, speculating things about them. Ethan wonders why Ball Guy is giving out items as Elio begins to ponder their identity, thinking of Kukui. Victor explains that he had met Ball Guy in Galar, where he had seen them give out Poké Balls and cheer on Trainers. As the three continue to discuss Ball Guy, they hear an explosion in the distance that startles them.

At Centra City, Ball Guy challenges passing Trainers while commanding an Electrode and some Voltorb to attack. Elio, Ethan, and Victor arrive and are concerned to see Ball Guy threatening Trainers. Victor runs over to ask them for an explanation, but after a moment of brief hesitation, they challenge him, too. Ethan and Elio rush to help Victor, sending out their Pokémon.

Victor stays behind and thinks to himself worriedly.

In an alley, Looker and the others corner Ball Guy by a gate. Looker demands for Ball Guy to explain their actions, and tells them to surrender. Ball Guy tells everyone that they wanted to cheer on Trainers by using ball-like Pokémon to help them get stronger. They explain that they were inspired to pretend to be a villain after seeing Brycen act in a play. By acting as a villain, Trainers would feel the necessity to battle them, ensuring their growth, and wouldn't just flee. Victor reprimands Ball Guy for their actions, and they apologize.

Lear decides to let Ball Guy go with a warning, since they didn't cause too much damage. Looker asks Ball Guy where they got the ball-like Pokémon they used, and after remarking a 'kind scientist' gave them the Pokémon, Ball Guy turns to see Colress and Hoopa who are approaching from nearby.

Days later, Ball Guy and the Masked Royal have a battle in the city, a crowd spectating them. When Ball Guy seems to be in a pinch, they're cheered on and their determination is renewed, continuing to battle. When the battle ends, the Masked Royal tells Ball Guy 'You've a stout heart, and you don't give up no matter how many times you go down!' and Selene asks them if they can all take a photo together. Afterward, Ball Guy and Lisia dance in front of a crowd, completing a chant together. They gift her a Love Ball afterwards, finding it to be fitting for an idol. Ball Guy then joins Siebold, Mallow, Gloria, Victor, and Ethan in a forest to make curry designed to look like a Poké Ball. Victor asks Ball Guy how they made the curry such a bright red color, and they reveal that they used 'loads of super-hot spices' in it. Mallow, Gloria, and Ethan all begin to exclaim, having just started eating the spicy food. Later that night, Ball Guy explains to Victor and the others that they are willing to do everything they can to cheer people on so that one day they can become an official mascot.

Ball Guy Hello there! It's your good friend Ball Guy!
Ball Guy Ta-da!
Talk to Poké Balls, do you? Do you like them, too?
In case you were wondering, I'm not just any old Poké Ball!
But then who am I, you ask? Well, the answer is simple. They call me the Ball Guy!

 • A Welcoming Ball!
Name Text
(City)
Ball Guy So I've rolled onto Pasio...
It has a different kind of charm than Galar!
Hm? Who's that over there?
(Ball Guy sees Cynthia, Alder, Steven, Diantha, Iris, and Lance chatting)
Ball Guy In-incredi-ball! Famous people from different regions are here!
If I could make a name for myself here...
I've made a decision! I'm gonna cheer everyone on as a mascot here on Pasio, too!
(A Youngster walks by)
Ball Guy Hey, you there! Got a minute?
(The Youngster turns to look at Ball Guy)
Ball Guy I'm your mate—Ball Guy! You deserve a little reward!
Youngster A little reward?
Ball Guy Ta-da! It's a Friend Ball!
If you catch a Pokémon with a Friend Ball, it'll become friendly with you in no time.
Youngster Oh, a ball...
Ball Guy Huh? You're not happy with it?
Youngster We don't really use balls on Pasio...
Ball Guy H-how come? Trainers can't go without Poké Balls, right?
Youngster But there's no wild Pokémon on Pasio.
Ball Guy What?! But...what about my purpose?
Ball Guy blacked out!

(Square, by the fountain)
Ball Guy Ta-da! It's your good friend Ball Guy!
I'm giving out Poké Balls... Er, or useful items!
(A Preschooler runs by without stopping)
Ball Guy Please remember your mate—Ball Guy!
(A Collector walks by without stopping)
Ball Guy *sigh* I really want to give out these Poké Balls...
But even when I do, it doesn't make anyone happy...
What should I do, Amoonguss?
(Amoonguss cries out)
Ball Guy I was able to make it this far because I'm with you.
But now...
(Amoonguss cries out)
Ball Guy You never change, do you.
You've looked like a ball ever since I met you.
Oh, I've got it!
There IS a kind of ball that could be useful on Pasio!
But...how do I make friends with it here on Pasio?
??? You there!
(Colress and Hoopa approach Ball Guy)
??? Let us help you out!
(Transition to a path in the field)
Rising Star Hey, have you heard about the Ball Guy?
Camper Ball Guy? Who's that?
Lass Yeah, I have!
They're that fit person who gives out items while wearing a Poké Ball head, right?
Youngster I met them recently!
(Ethan, Elio, and Victor are further down the path, having overheard the conversation)
Ethan I've been hearing a lot of rumors about this Ball Guy.
I wonder why they're giving out items.
Elio Fit...headgear...
(Elio thinks about the Masked Royal and Professor Kukui)
Victor Oh! Ball Guy's made it to Pasio, too!
Elio Oh, do you know them?
Victor Yeah, we met a few times in Galar.
Elio Phew! So it's not the professor...
Victor Hm?
Elio Oh nothing! Just something personal. Haha...
Ethan The rumors make them seem pretty suspicious... But what are they actually like?
Victor Even back in Galar, I never saw their true face because of the headgear...
But they're a fan of Poké Balls, so I got all sorts of round items and rare Poké Balls from them.
I often saw Ball Guy cheering on Gym Challengers in front of the Galar Gyms, so I guess they can't be all that bad.
Ethan I see. That's good!
If Ball Guy likes Poké Balls, they might know about Kurt.
Victor Kurt?
Ethan Yeah! He's a Poké Ball smith in Johto!
Apparently, balls made by Kurt are popular among collectors.
Victor I see! Then I bet Ball Guy knows him.
Elio I wonder if Ball Guy also knows about the Beast Ball made by the Aether Foundation—
(A loud boom is heard, shaking the area)
Victor Wh-whoa! An explosion?!

 • Ball Guy Goes Ball-istic
Name Text
(City; Ball Guy stands with a group of three Voltorb and an Electrode)
Pokémon Ranger Everybody run!
Black Belt What's up with that person?!
Ball Guy Ball-ball-ball!
Now, all you skilled sync pairs, try and beat me!
Black Belt I won't lose to the likes of you!
Ball Guy Go, ball brigade!
(Ball Guy's Pokémon attack the Black Belt's Machoke and the Pokémon Ranger's Bayleef)
Pokémon Ranger Grr... They're tough.
Ball Guy Ball-ball-ball! Is that all you've got?
(Ethan, Elio, and Victor arrive)
Elio Is that Ball Guy?!
Victor said they're not a bad person, but...
Ethan This situation suggests otherwise!
(Victor runs towards Ball Guy)
Victor Ball Guy! What are you doing?!
You've never done anything like this!
Ball Guy ... ... ...
A new target! Give me all you got!
(Victor is shocked, and Ethan and Elio catch up to him)
Ethan I won't let you cause any more problems!
Elio We'll take you on, too!
(Elio and Ethan send out Primarina and Typhlosion, and together with the Black Belt and Pokémon Ranger they defeat Ball Guy's Pokémon)
Ball Guy N-not too bad!
(Ethan and Elio cheer, and Sawyer appears behind them)
Sawyer Over here, young master!
(Lear runs up)
Lear Is that the suspicious person I've been told about?
Ball Guy Hm?! It seems I'm outnumbered! I'll be rolling out for today!
Be prepared for next time! Ball-ball-ball!
(Ball Guy runs away)
Lear Hey, wait!
(Lear and Sawyer chase after Ball Guy)
Elio Let's go, too!
Ethan Yeah!
(Ethan and Elio return their Pokémon and give chase, along with the Black Belt and Pokémon Ranger)
Victor What happened to you, Ball Guy?
(Outside the tunnel on the beach; Ball Guy is facing Misty, Lana, and Nessa)
Ball Guy Ball-ball-ball! Now, try and beat me!
Misty Who are you?! And why are you dressed so suspiciously?!
Lana Is that some Voltorb army boss? They look like a fishing bobber.
Nessa I feel like I've seen that person around the Galar Gyms...
Ball Guy Prepare to be shocked, Water-type Trainers!
(In the mountains; Ball Guy is facing Brock, Roark, and Gordie)
Brock Are you OK, you two?
Roark There's a lot, but nothing I can't handle!
Ball Guy Ball-ball-ball!
No matter how hard the rock is, I'm gonna blow it to bits!
Roark I don't know who you are, but you won't get your way!
Brock No attack, big or small, will crack our rock-hard resolve!
Gordie Wait! I swear that person was at the Galar Gyms—
(Forest; Ball Guy is facing Lt. Surge, Korrina, and Bea)
Lt. Surge Wow! Look at all these electric Ball Pokémon!
Korrina Is that a weird person mixed in with all those Pokémon?
Bea Oh! Yes, that person! But...why?
Ball Guy Everyone's gonna explode!
Korrina Then let's give it all we've got, too!
Bea I don't understand what's going on, but I have to defeat them before they explode!
(City; Victor, Elio, and Ethan are facing Lear, Sawyer, and Looker)
Ball Guy continued to cause chaos in different places...
Lear How dare they cause problems on my island!
I've had enough! I'm putting them on the wanted list!
Victor W-wait!
Ball Guy may be suspicious...but they wouldn't do this sort of thing!
There must be a reason!
Looker I'm a member of the International Police. Whatever Ball Guy's reason, I can't leave them running loose.
Also, in order to hear from them, we have to catch them first, because they're out of control.
Victor But...
Looker Don't worry! Leave everything to me!
(Looker, Lear, and Sawyer leave; flashback to Ball Guy)
Ball Guy As a sign of our friendship, let me give you a wonderful Poké Ball!
Poké Balls are just full of surprises, don't you think?
(Back to present)
Victor ... ... ...
Ethan Victor...

 • Ball Guy, Caught!
Name Text
(Alley; Looker, Sawyer, Lear, Ethan, Victor, and Elio have Ball Guy cornered)
Looker Ball Guy! You're completely surrounded!
Surrender before you make the people who care about you any more upset!
Ball Guy Oh no! Is this as far as I roll?
Looker There—gotcha!
(Sawyer's Honchkrow cries out, and Ball Guy screams)
Looker Why did you do this?
Ball Guy I...
I wanted to make a name for myself on Pasio—and become the official mascot of the world...
Or rather...I wanted to cheer on everyone on Pasio!
Sawyer Cheer them on? What nonsense!
Ball Guy I-I'm not lying!
I can't cheer on the people on Pasio by giving them Poké Balls...
So I figured I could help train everyone with ball-like Pokémon.
But if I just challenged people to a battle, they would be suspicious of me and roll away.
Ethan So you purposefully pretended to be a villain?
Looker I guess there was no real physical damage done. But why do this in such a roundabout way?
Ball Guy On this island, I saw a person named Brycen act in a play...
And I thought if I could take on the role of the villain like him, people would battle me seriously...
Victor That's not the right way to cheer people on, Ball Guy.
Ball Guy Hm?
Victor I know you wanted to help, but you caused just as many problems.
Most importantly, if people started to hate you for what you did, it would all be for nothing!
Ball Guy I'm sorry, everyone...
(City at night; Looker, Lear, Ethan, Victor, and Elio are talking to Ball Guy)
Ball Guy was captured, and the chain of events came to an end.
Ball Guy hadn't caused too much damage to the other sync pairs, so they were released with a stern warning.
Lear Got it? There will be no next time!
Ball Guy Understood!
Looker Anyway, where did you get all those Pokémon from?
Ball Guy Oh, that...
A kind scientist and an unusual Pokémon helped me out!
Lear What did you say?
(Hoopa's cry is heard)
Ball Guy Oh! That's them over there!
??? Oh! Hello there, Ball Guy!
(Colress and Hoopa appear)
Colress How did you like the Colress Machine?
The electric power of those Voltorb that Hoopa brought here was heavily amplified, was it not?
(Hoopa cries out)
Colress And not only that!
It seems those Voltorb forged some sort of bond with you, Ball Guy!
Coincidence or not, perhaps your peculiar attire and the effect of the machine worked together, creating a sense of companionship!
What fascinating results!
(Hoopa cries out happily)
Lear You're the cause of ALL OF THIS?!
Colress Oh dear! I must be getting on with analyzing the data I acquired!
I must excuse myself!
(Colress and Hoopa walk away)
Lear I won't let you escape! Colress! HOOPAAAA!
(Lear runs after them)
Looker Right, that's case closed!
(Looker leaves)
Ball Guy But...I can't give out Poké Balls, and I can't battle anyone...
What should I do now?
Victor It's simple!
You have a wonderful partner Pokémon, right, Ball Guy?
(Ball Guy looks at Amoonguss, who cries happily)
Ball Guy Oh...
Victor This is Pasio! Everyone has the right to be the best sync pair!
So you should aim for the same goal as us!
(Elio and Ethan voice their agreement)

A few days later...
(The Masked Royal and Ball Guy are battling in front of a crowd near the fountain in the city)
The Masked Royal What's wrong? Is that all you've got?
Ball Guy A-ahhh...
Elio You can do it, Ball Guy!
Selene Don't lose, you two!
Ball Guy Thanks, everyone!
We're still rolling!
(Amoonguss cries out)
The Masked Royal Very good! Now, hit me with all you've got!
(Transition to after the battle)
The Masked Royal You've a stout heart, and you don't give up no matter how many times you go down!
That was a great battle!
Ball Guy Let's battle again, Masked Royal!
Selene Can we get a picture together, Ball Guy?
Ball Guy Sure! Of course!
(Fade to black)
Ball Guy Say "ball"!
(Ball Guy takes a picture with Elio, Selene, and the Masked Royal; transition to the Pasio arena)
Lisia Thanks for coming today, all!
Ball Guy Let's do the usual, everyone! Ready?
Lisia Dazzling, dizzying!
Ball Guy Doldrums defying!
Ace Trainer Dazzling! Dizzying!
(Ball Guy does a little dance, and Lisia laughs)
Ball Guy Thanks for everything today, Lisia!
As a sign of our friendship, let me give you a present!
Lisia Ohhh, what is it?
Ball Guy The gift is...a Love Ball!
This ball is quite pretty—and looks nice when you bring a Pokémon out of it!
It's perfect for an idol like you, Lisia!
Lisia How marvelous! Thank you, Ball Guy!
(Forest; Ethan, Victor, Gloria, Siebold, Mallow, and Ball Guy are gathered around a big pot)
Ball Guy How about this?
Siebold Very nice.
When creating a dish that's a piece of art, good flavor is obviously key. But appearance is important as well.
Ball Guy Put this here...and done! This is Poké Ball curry!
Ethan Wow, it looks just like a Poké Ball!
Gloria You created a Poké Ball with the colors of the rice and roux!
Mallow Let's eat!
Victor Wait, how did you make the color bright red?
Ball Guy I threw in loads of superhot spices!
Mallow S...
Gloria S-SPICY!!!
Ethan I could use Flamethrower with my mouth!
(Transition to nighttime)
Victor You're working hard in a lot of ways, Ball Guy.
Ball Guy It's because you all cheered me on, Victor!
In order to become the best sync pair with Amoonguss...
I'm gonna try everything—and cheer everyone on!
(Amoonguss cries out)
Ball Guy I'll work hard so that one day, I'll be recognized as an official mascot!
Elio That's Ball Guy's dream?
Victor Right, you're still unofficial at the moment...
Ethan You can do it! I'm cheering for you, Ball Guy!
(Ball Guy does a little dance)

 • My Secret Hideout!
Name Text
(Ball Guy, a Youngster, and a Preschooler are in a warehouse; Ball Guy spots the player)
Ball Guy Welcome to my hideout! Only those who can hand over a specific something are allowed in!
If you beat me in a battle, I'll give you a nice present! Ready to roll?
(After defeating Ball Guy)
Ball Guy Not bad! Why don't you choose something from my special collection to take with you?
Come on! Open up your favorite Poké Ball!
(Speaking to Ball Guy before choosing an item)
Ball Guy You might find something rare!
I'd love it if you kept rolling by and got the whole collection!
I wonder...
Why do these Poké Balls contain items instead of Pokémon?
Poké Balls are just full of surprises, don't you think?
(After choosing an item)
Ball Guy Heheh! If you want to come again, you know what to bring me!
(After choosing the last item in the collection)
Ball Guy Congratulations! You've got the entire collection!
I'm gonna stay on the ball and keep supporting everyone on Pasio!
(Visiting the area after collecting all items)
Ball Guy I don't have anything else in my collection...
But I want you to have something, so take this!
