Chase the Northern Wind (Japanese: 駆ける北風を追う男) was a story event in Pokémon Masters EX. It was focused on the sync pairs Eusine and Suicune and Sygna Suit Silver and Sneasel.

The "Eusine Poké Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Eusine and Suicune from the beginning of the event to July 15, 2023, and the "Sygna Suit Silver Poké Fair Scout" gave players an increased chance of recruiting Sygna Suit Silver and Sneasel from June 17 to July 15, 2023.

During this event, players could earn Event Vouchers T from battles that could be redeemed in the shop. All battles could be challenged an unlimited number of times except Daily Extreme Battle 1, which could only be challenged once per day. Extra vouchers were automatically exchanged with coins once the event was finished.

The player could battle using Eusine and Suicune or Sygna Suit Silver and Sneasel to obtain +0.6× bonus vouchers; Sygna Suit Kris and Suicune or Sygna Suit Morty and Ho-Oh to obtain +0.4× bonus vouchers; and any unlisted Johto sync pairs to obtain +0.2× bonus vouchers.

This event featured the Battle Challenge, where players were challenged to defeat a team of strong opponents. Players could complete event missions by clearing these areas with teams using various theme skills, earning medals and other rewards.

In addition, players could earn a medal for completing all the story areas in the event.

Plot

While following Suicune, Eusine accidentally ends up on Pasio. He sees Suicune nearby, but it runs away. Eusine vows to catch up to it this time and chases after it, but to his surprise, he finds it with Kris.

Elsewhere, Silver and his Sneasel are having a battle against Candice and her Abomasnow. After the battle, Jasmine, who had been watching, comments on the fact that Silver healed his Sneasel right away. This reminds Silver of the time that he scoffed at Jasmine for taking care of a sick Pokémon instead of just letting it go, and he says that it's a pain for him if Sneasel can't battle. Candice scolds him for talking so rudely about his partner Pokémon, not realizing that's Silver's way of showing that he cares. After he leaves, Candice realizes that the sygna suit he's wearing is proof that he and Sneasel have a strong bond.

After Sneasel is fully recovered, Silver decides to look for their next opponent. Spying Kris and Suicune walking further down the road, Silver decides to follow them. When he finally catches up to them, he finds them talking to Eusine and Morty, recognizing Eusine from the Burned Tower. Morty introduces Eusine to the others as an old friend of his, and Eusine tells them about his passion for Suicune and his dream to be accepted as Suicune's trainer. Unfortunately, the Suicune here on Pasio has already chosen Kris as its partner. To Silver's disdain, he's not upset by this in the slightest, instead congratulating Kris on being chosen by Suicune. Kris comments on the fact that Suicune has been disappearing on her recently, and on cue, Suicune wanders off. Eusine doesn't think it's distrust, and he wonders if Suicune is wandering off because it's curious about something.

After the group talks for a bit more, Kris's Suicune returns with a Shiny Suicune in tow. Everyone is shocked by the appearance of the second Suicune, and it runs away before they can do anything. Eusine marvels at the sight of this beautiful, alternately-colored Suicune, scarcely believing it's real. Morty and Silver show him that they each met a Ho-Oh on Pasio, too, and Morty asks Eusine what he's going to do now. Eusine declares that he's going to find that Suicune, and Kris and Morty volunteer to help him search. Silver, however, refuses to work with Eusine, though he's intrigued by the prospect of finding Suicune and forming a sync pair with it. Eusine cheerfully says that makes them rivals, and Silver asks him why he doesn't have a problem with someone else partnering with Suicune. Eusine says that if Suicune chooses Silver as its partner, he'll accept Suicune's choice, but he'll never give up his dream to catch up to Suicune. He asks Silver if Silver has a dream, but Silver scoffs at the thought. Eusine says that he hopes Silver will find a dream of his own someday, and he heads off to start searching. With Morty and Kris's help, Eusine manages to find Suicune, but it escapes. He vows to keep following Suicune until he finds out what Suicune wants in a Trainer.

Time passes, and the news of the Shiny Suicune spreads over the island. Plenty of people try to chase it, but no one succeeds in catching it. Silver overhears a group of people in town talking about the chase, and how everyone has given up on it by now except Eusine. The Lass admires his tenacity, but the others scoff at it, calling him reckless and out of touch with reality. Silver interrupts the conversation to scoff at their weak mentality, looking down on Eusine even though they can't catch Suicune, either. He challenges them to battle and defeats them easily with his Sneasel. Morty shows up to compliment Silver's growth, and the group flees, not wanting to face Morty's Ho-Oh. Morty comments on the same thing that the group had noticed - that everyone has given up looking for Suicune except Eusine - and Silver admits he's surprised by Eusine's unwavering persistence. Morty says that Eusine wants to be accepted by Suicune, no matter what. Silver says he can understand that feeling, so maybe he does have a dream, and Morty hopes that both Eusine's and Silver's dreams will come true.

More time passes, and Eusine is searching for Suicune in the forest with Kris and Silver. Kris complains how hard it is to find Suicune, and Eusine just laughs and says that's nothing new. Silver scowls at the fact that he's able to stay in such high spirits despite the lack of success and the fact that he's right next to someone who already accomplished what he wants to do, and he asks if Eusine has thought about giving up on his dream. Eusine says he's never resented anyone or thought of giving up on his dream, because while his ultimate goal may be to be accepted by Suicune, the moments he spends running towards that dream are equally important to him. He also says that his searching hasn't been completely in vain, as he's been able to note the locations of water sources that have been purified by Suicune in an effort to predict its movement pattern. In order to be an honest Trainer for Suicune and have an equal playing field with his rival, Eusine offers to tell Silver about all the places he's found, which Silver accepts.

Later, Suicune is running along a beach at night, and Eusine intercepts it, alongside Kris, Silver, and Morty. He asks the others if they're really okay with him challenging Suicune, and Silver says that Suicune can tell who's been following it this whole time - it's only looking at Eusine. Kris and Silver tell him to go ahead and make his dream come true, and Eusine thanks them before turning around to challenge Suicune. He sends out his Electrode to battle Suicune, and eventually, Suicune stops fighting and accepts Eusine as its partner. Eusine marvels Suicune up close, and Morty congratulates him on finally accomplishing his dream. Silver tells Eusine that he has a dream, too - to surpass everyone else and become the world's strongest Trainer with his Pokémon by his side. Eusine smiles and says that it's now Silver's turn to make his dream come true. He also gives Silver a gift to cheer him on in the pursuit of his dream - a Pokémon Egg that he found while exploring Johto. Silver says he'll train it to be strong no matter what Pokémon it is, and Eusine looks forward to the day he can see the two of them as a sync pair.

Days later, Silver defeats a pair of Team Rocket Grunts who were causing trouble in town. Lance shows up to give him a hand, but Silver has already taken care of everything. Silver promises Lance that he and Sneasel will get even stronger and catch up to him, so he'd better be ready, and Lance says he's looking forward to it.
